Some of these “new era dudes” are quick to dismiss Ice-T (He is the longest running cop in TV history, made a few ill advised moves in his storied career, etc), but what they don’t fully grasp is that he is one of the true kings of west coast hardcore…PERIOD…Some of his earlier joints still give me the chills when I go back and revisit them…Not only was / is he a gifted storyteller – he has the uncanny ability to weave the consequences into a crime narrative without glorifying or sounding overly preachy, which is a difficult thing to do….

On this rare as fuck clip unearthed by RANDOM RAP RADIO – ICE-T, BANGO (Consider yourself blessed), HEN G, KID JAZZ (Consider yourself blessed again), and KING T go for broke on the London airwaves in 1989….FRESH IS THE WORD…

When it comes to scientific murder bars – Third Sight’s ROUGHNECK JIHAD is in a hardcore class by himself…I have never heard any “shiny happy people” rhymes from this dude, his whole catalogue and manifesto is centered around killing wack MC’s (Which is welcomed wholeheartedly over here at Hip Hop Battlefield if it’s done in a creative way HAHAHAH)…

Last year he dropped the “Orchids & Corpses” album which was recorded on a 4 track between 93-96…

Ran into the ARTIFACTS the other night…

The funniest / puzzling part about this encounter is that after chopping it up heavy on the avenue for about 30 minutes, we witnessed a dude get picked up and body slammed right on his forehead which was followed up with a barrage of high voltage punches to his face…It was nothing nice, and it happened literally right in front of us….

On another note TAME, EL & DJ KAOS just got back from a European tour so they were in good spirits….Salute to those cats for keeping the flames lit, sticking to the script, and having a deep appreciation and respect for graff like myself…TAME has been getting busy with the hand styles since the early 80’s – here is a few examples that I could find of him getting down for his crown…

First time the UNKUT RAW “First Toke” instrumentals were available…Dont Sleep cuzzo !!!!

“This is an edited version of the instrumentals from the 2007 Green Llama release, Uncut Raw – First Toke. It includes all 34 beats used on the original release.

First Toke was the first official release by the Green Llama Movement in 2007. GLM started as myself, a music maker from Pennsylvania and staying in Akron, Ohio at the time, and ILL DON, the native New Yorker creative. After finding some old public access radio broadcasts of The Green Llama radio show, we adopted the name. We added Decay, the Chicago native emcee, who then subsequently added his close friend, Selfish, another Chitown emcee, and formed the groups City Slick and Uncut Raw, respectively. I had been sending beats to Selfish for a year or so, putting together tracks and keeping them in the vaults. Once we had a lot of tracks recorded, we mixed it all, put the final touches on it and the rest is history.

The album received good reviews at the time and started to develop a word of mouth buzz. When the album was picked up and re-released by a label in 2008, after a strong initial push it had to be pulled from shelves when a sample dispute was started by someone who was sampled for an interlude on the album. The result meant the end of selling physical copies of the album at the time through the label, and left a salty taste in our mouths from dealing with the business aspect of making the music that we love.

Work began on the follow-up album, which was titled “Heavy Dose”. The album was completed but due to the universe deciding it wasn’t time to release it, the album did not see the light of day.”

The original MAIN SOURCE crew (Minus Sir Scratch) are currently in Europe celebrating the 25th anniversary of the bonafide classic “Breaking Atoms” album..DJ EVIL ED took it upon himself to assemble a two hour session stacked with strictly LARGE PRO related material…

ED does the right thing by flipping rarities, b-sides, and a heavy helping of remixes instead of the typical joints you often hear..

Sometimes cats ask me “Yo Drasar you should submit beats to so and so”, but what they don’t realize is that I was never really into the whole submit tracks steez..WHY ?

1..I have been rhyming, Dj’ing and making beats since a youth – why would I submit tracks to dudes that aren’t really proficient with their bar game ? If I can out rhyme you with the greatest of ease – why would I send you joints ?

2..To be honest I need to be in the studio while the rhymes are being laid down..E-mail collabs never inticed me very much…

3..Sometimes dudes try to rearrange and reformat your shit and I’m not down with all that…The beat is sequenced the way it is for a reason..

With that being said – a few years back the LO – LIFE affiliated crew GERMAN REGIME caught a little wreck over one of my joints…They blessed the mic with tales of revenge killings, dedication to POLO, set ups, and all that other grizzly shit that makes for a interesting listen…My only complaint is the scratch sentences at the end of the song (which could have been executed a little better, I had nothing to do with that aspect)….
