Out of all the crazy remixes that the BEAT NUTS used to do, the flip of Justice System’s “Dedication to Bambaataa” easily ranks in my personal top five….The original is far from slouch material, but this version deserves decent burn as well..

Before this internet file sharing scenario popped off I was one of the most arrogant Hip Hop cats you would ever come across – but after scouring all over the net for multiple years, meeting different record dealers, and linking up with dudes from all over the world I realize there is so much more to know and it has humbled me, somewhat HAHAHA…..I have been a die-hard Hip Hop fiend since I was a kid, and it’s hard to believe I am still currently hearing dope joints from the 80’s and 90’s and 2000’s that slid past my radar….

FANIA RECORDS 50TH ANNIVERSARY MIX | SCV PODCASTS VOL 190
The legendary salsa label Fania Records turns 50 this year and we have gone into our personal collections for an exclusive Sound Colour Vibration mix covering various tracks from the labels first two decades. Our “Fania Records 50th Anniversary Mix” represents the labels sound and aesthetic from the 60’s and onward, full of the type of passion and creativity you rarely feel in modern music. Immersive, soulful and technical percussion tandem trails lines across the pulsating bass runs and thunderous horn lines. It’s music for the people, created by the people and there has never been another movement like it since. We were given help from long-time Mars Volta member Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez (Eureka The Butcher) in track selection and we thank him greatly for his contributions to this mix. He without a doubt made our selection variation much more complete. Salsa music at its finest, this one is meant to be played loud!
” Groove Morale “
A funny incident happened to me while I was at the VENDETTA VINYL booth during the Beat Swap in LA awhile back….Unlike some of the vendors I always speak to anyone that approaches, my usual opener is something like this – “It’s a great day to go digging brother, can I assist you in any way…I have breaks on deck, Jazz, Psych, Reggae, Hip Hop old and new, what are you looking for today”?…
Some people might say that’s a little pushy, but I look at it as being courteous and I also get a feel for what type of frequency they are on from jump street…..
Anyway, this one cat said he was looking for breaks with a funny style smirk on his face..I replied, “Oh word that first record that is standing up in the first crate has some heat on it”…The record I was referring to was a GINO VANNELLI piece…..Yeah I know GINO isn’t the most obscure dude, but I dare you to tell me that he doesn’t have a impressive catalogue….
Dude gave me that corny, funny style smirk again and whispered “GINO isn’t really breaks” and calmly walked in the opposite direction…
WOW-.
Funny thing is that particular record has a drum break on it that I haven’t heard anyone fuck with……The whole point of this story troopers, is that you can find breaks anywhere in any genre if you are willing to actually LISTEN (He had a portable player so he could have)…I have found raw breaks on Country records, Children’s records, Library records of course,OST’s, Rock records, Psych records, etc…..
Please do not be afraid to venture out of your comfort zone to find groove morale or else you will be severely limiting yourself….And to that bozo that tried to play mind games – a wise man once told me, “If you act like a clown, you will be treated like one”….
With that being said here is some mid-week power boost type shit (And no, I am not implying that you should sample the material below, it’s a fairly recent release so that would be silly – but if you give it some decent burn maybe it will inspire you in the arrangement department next time you turn on your sampler)..
The backstory of The Bombay Royale’s protagonists is as rich and enigmatic as their music. Parvyn Kaur Singh (“The Mysterious Lady”) is the daughter of Dya Singh, a traditional shabad singer. Bollywood dance teacher by day and a rock chick by night, Singh is a product both of Melbourne’s music scene and a lifetime of performing traditional Indian music. The band’s male lead, Shourov “The Tiger” Bhattacharya, is a second generation Indian-Australian musician of Bengali descent whose day job is computer genius and IT entrepreneur. Band leader Andy “The Skipper” Williamson is saxophonist to the stars, who’s clocked up over 2000 shows on the Australian festival circuit with bands such as Labjacd, the Public Opinion Afro Orchestra and Diafrix as well as accumulating a record collection that’s the envy of crate-diggers and a source of the band’s collective inspirations.
“New Shit On Deck “
Well troopers it appears as if “DO OR DIE 2” will be out sooner than later…AZ hooks up with Buckwild for a round of goodness (My Niggas).
Awww yeah, this is that shit..

” Divine Styler Speaks “
Former Rhyme Syndicate repper DIVINE STYLER recently caught up with the good peoples over at BLACK OTHER for a glimpse into his mind frame….It’s not often that he opens up to the public in a interview format so consider yourself blessed..
9: Def Mask is the name of the new LP? What brought that title about and how has the newer music been received so far? Do you think any of this set will surprise fans of the older material?
As you know Def was a term somewhat like dope but before the crack era which embodied, amazing, mystic, fly, innovative. A mask traditionally is used for drama on a stage to portray various characters in a play.
So the Mask aspect lends itself to the masking of the original source creating a multitude of contradiction through multiple faces and paradoxes in the individual thats playing the role in the drama.
For me it’s an observation as to where we are as individuals and a collective. I’m not expressing anything new. It’s been written about for eons throughout various forms of literature from people like Marcus
Aurelius to Carl Jung. It’s just my take on it. My interpretation lends itself to a more Dystopian/ Orwellian view, being that society is now being driven so much by technology and this group mind drone type
pathos that no one seems to be aware of is going on. With Defmask, I’m the mask wearer narrating the Dystopian drama of the id, ego & super ego.

” Cormega : Mega Philosophy “
I’m eager to hear the CORMEGA & LARGE PRO collabo album “Mega Philosophy” when it drops in a week..He recently sat down with the dudes over at AMBROSIA FOR HEADS for a heavy Q&A session that will hold your attention…
“Ambrosia For Heads: Over the years I’ve watched so many people quote that first verse of “The Saga.” That’s one people might have tattooed: “I grew away from people I grew with…” Your verses on loyalty supersede everything else within your catalog. You do that again on “A New Day Begins,” saying, “I weigh my mans like grams, understanding there are losses when you measure weight”…
Cormega: Loyalty is very important—in everything that you do, in every aspect of life, loyalty is essential. When you’re a generous person, you definitely need loyalty, ‘cause people will use you like a sponge. Like, right now, I have a show in New York on July 21st, my album release party. I know what’s gonna happen. The day of the show, a bunch of people that I’m cool with—but that don’t contact me much—they’re gonna call me or they’re gonna be outside, getting somebody in the club, “Yo, tell ‘Mega I’m out here.” So there’s gonna be all these people trying to get in free—who probably didn’t buy my album, but just [wants]. They want, but they don’t want to give. On this album, I’m not doing that. I have friends that live in California that bought tickets to fly to New York City to come from my show, Connecticut friends who are driving…but there are local people who will burn my phone down so they can get in for free.
My first contract that I got with Koch Records was the fuckery of all fuckeries. It was initiated by the guy (Bob Perry) that I helped get the job at Koch. The [same] guy who used to work at Landspeed [Records]—I’m the one who made Landspeed pop. Landspeed made noise prior to me, but it wasn’t loud noise. A fart is noise, but it’s not a gunshot. I fuckin’ carried Landspeed and took it to a whole ‘notha level, got certain people in position—that’s loyalty right there. And I stayed on Landspeed. The Realness? I did not have to be on Landspeed. I had Interscope callin’ me, I had TVT with a contract—TVT had a lot of money! They had Lil Jon. I had numerous labels wanting to sign me, but I stayed with Landspeed. That was loyalty. But how was my loyalty rewarded? I got a fuck-you-deal when I signed with Koch by the same person I was working with at Landspeed”.
