DANGERFIELD links up with DJ SKIZZ for a round of greasy survivalist talk over dramatic production on “Live From The Ghetto”….
It’s already Monday morning troopers – so you know what that means…
Time for some theme music to jump start your week, this time around my dude from Londontown is behind the wheels of steel for the latest DIGGERS DOZEN mix…Catch a groove..
I’m not sure about where you live, but here in Vietnam, California the weather is surprisingly steamy for this time of year…On gorgeous days like this Question’s “FAVELA EP” does wonders for the groove morale..
Video footage of the Jersey Fresh Jam has finally hit the webs…If you look closely you can spot the legend SKEME going for his.
PEEP..
The Jersey Fresh Jam ( http://jerseyfreshjam.com ) is New Jersey’s premiere Hip Hop festival. Since 2005, the event has grown from a small, humble event into one the most respected celebrations of Hip Hop culture on the east coast. At the twilight of every summer, graffiti artists from far and wide converge to adorn the walls of Terracycle INC in Trenton with their signature masterpieces, while local and regionally known emcees, bands, and DJs provide the soundtrack for the days festivities.
The very talented Russian outfit Valentin Badiarov Group keep the flavors high powered on this mesmerizing album “Discotheque Music” (1984)….Hearing this type of frequency automatically transports me back to the skating rink, arcade, and backyard boogaloo era (But not in a corny way)…
Perfect for a long flight or a late night cruise…

The wait is over cuzzo and Diamond D’s newest offering the “Diam Piece” just hit the set….I gave this one a few spins and I’m still not quite sure what my verdict is, but I’m going to rock it for a few and let things marinate…
As of now this one is definitely one of my top picks..
For the longest time I refrained from setting up a Facebook account or a Twitter spot…
WHY ?
I already have HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD which has been up and running for almost 8 years straight, also I couldn’t help but notice that most “social networks” are just a forum for beef, gossip, negativity, and other various forms of fuckery and self-indulgence…
But now we (MF GRIMM & I) are on the verge of releasing the final installment in the GMV series (The Phoenix Program) so it’s only right that I branch out and connect with the “people” a little bit more….If you want to build on MUSIC, look me up on the “book”, but if you just want to rant and rave and hit me over the head with all types of extras – you probably wont get a response back from me, with all due respect..
HAHAHA….
Please do not get it twisted though – HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD is the main hub for the kid….Matter of fact I plan on posting more shit now that Summer has come to a close so make sure you check in on the daily famo….

Even though CUT CHEMIST & DJ SHADOW’s musical direction in recent years wasn’t necessarily my cup of tea, I still am looking forward to catching one of their spot dates for the RENEGADES OF RHYTHM tour when they slide through my area…
“Cut Chemist says: Take a peak into the exclusive material from hip-hop pioneer DJ Afrika Bambaataa. Mix By Jimmy features recordings Bambaataa had pressed to acetate for spinning live at shows in the late ’70s and early ’80s. This mix includes entirely unreleased material along with demo versions of hits like “Looking For The Perfect Beat,” “Renegades of Funk” and “Planet Rock.” Listen and take a trip through the deepest part of the most important music collection of our time”.
Straight from the “D” comes a new collabo project from DJ DEZ & DJ BUTTER “Piece Of The Action”…Go track that down while your floating around in cyber-space…
On this recent RED BULL Q&A session DEZ talks about his pedigree (he is the son of Jazz great Humberto ‘Nengue’ Hernandez), Detroit, House music, etc…Do yourself a favor and check in duke..
WHEW-
These new STAN SMITH Adidas joints are just straight up ridiculous…It’s been a minute since I added a pair of kicks to the stash, but I might have to come out of hiatus for these..
I think it’s almost impossible to have a strictly BEAT NUTS mix and miss the mark….
BUMRUSH RADIO blesses us with the goods this time around.

Sometimes just for fun I will scour all over the net looking for beat tapes that can hold my interest for five full minutes….To be honest most of the time that I try this little experiment I end up empty handed and left baffled by how hard it is to find a instrumental project that will stick to my ribs….
To each his own but I’m tired of hearing a million DILLA clones, suspect chops, sample kit kicks and snares, flimsy synths, overused breaks, and NO scratches whatsoever on your “beat tapes”…..
One of the major problems with SOME of these cats is that they have no DJ’ing background…Unless your extremely musically talented I just do not understand Hip Hop producers that think they can excel in crafting beats when they do not approach it from a DJ standpoint….
What’s your prerequisite ?
If you have DJ’ed for a substantial amount of time you automatically know what combinations belong together and which ones do not….If you have rocked a crowd behind those decks you are in tune to certain frequencies that move the people..
Anyway, that dude PAUL NICE recently uploaded the “Biscuits” beat project on his Bandcamp page…Check in and catch a zone (Via-OTTN).
DON LETTS has inspired me in a myriad of ways..
His sheer creativity and open mindedness is amazing on so many levels, but one of the things that I have learned from his “living example”, is that you can grow older and still maintain the principles you had as a youth without compromising whatsoever…
Check out the “Superstonic Sound” documentary that is based on his life and catch a jewel or two…
“SCARS AND MEMORIES, MEMORIES AND SCARS / I LOOK UP IN THE SKY AND I WONDER WHERE YOU ARE”…
Life is crazy sometimes….
Just when you think that you have figured everything out, life has a way of throwing you periodic curve balls that will absolutely baffle you…A dear childhood friend of mine was recently killed in a senseless act of violence that has left his friends, family and loved ones completely and thoroughly stunned to the core…
How can we live in a world where another humans life is not valued at all whatsoever ?
As I reminisce on my friend I try my hardest to think of the good times, the dreams, the optimistic outlook we both had about life….It’s such a tragic shame..
I know in my heart he would want me to continue on my path without fear, prejudice, malice, and self-destruction – so that’s what I’m going to do for you my brother without a fraction of a doubt…I am committed to honoring your name and our bond with pure DETERMINATION…
RIP – JONZ GLK/MJM……..WE ARE GOING TO MISS YOU BROTHER.
*Due to the fact that GRIMM & I put a tremendous amount of time and energy into the making of GMV 3 – I’m going to take a week long hiatus from HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD…Regular posting will resume next Monday.
So where do I begin?
This is the final installment in the GMV series…On the first two joints we hit you with multiple angles and frequencies, but in my humble opinion part three raises the stakes and pushes the suckers straight off the motherfucking cliff without a parachute..
I’m not going to hit you with a bunch of fancy adjectives and extras…If you still believe in the power of hardcore Hip Hop you already know what it is….Salute to everyone out there that has supported these releases (I SEE YOU)..
