” A1 Records In The Mix “

This is the second mix that I have posted this week to rock a joint by the first LO-LIFE on wax BOOSTIN KEV (RIP)..Matter of fact “I’m A Booster” was his very first release on PARKER RECORDS 1991…It’s a shame that you can barely find any info regarding this very ill BK rhymeslinger…
If your a LO-LIFE, or just a LO-HEAD in general “That Be Boostin” & “I’m A Booster” should always be in your rotation….
A1 Records out of NYC has a podcast that you should peep….This SESSION 1278 mix by SETH is a good place to start duke….

” Saturday Night Live “

All types of wild shit has been popping off lately – the passing of Natalie Cole, Mark B and Dr.Frances Cress Welsing (the latter was responsible for one of the best books ever written – ISIS PAPERS)…I also have to mention other happenings like the arrest of Bill Cosby, the killing of Tamir Rice, and all types of other shit that invokes heavy contemplation for any THINKING person….
When I first started HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD I wanted to include socio-politics in the mix, but I soon realized that it wasn’t a good idea to share my personal beliefs regarding certain politics in a public forum such as this…
It’s not that I’m timid when it comes to speaking my mind, I’m actually one of the most stand up, opinionated cats that you will ever encounter…But I’m also wise enough to realize that typing a few rants in cyber-space will not have a long lasting impact (everyone and their mother is a armchair revolutionary on the net, but in real life no real activism is taking place for the most part)….So if you want to know how I feel about the reality of my surroundings in America, listen to “Good Morning Vietnam” 1-3 and you will get a better understanding of my outlook…..
Anyway, let me get back to this B-Boy business because that’s what you are here for, right? DJ BLES ONE from Seattle (Massive Monkeys) hits us with a heavy avalanche of drum breaks, doubles, blends, hype frequencies and choice selections on the “SOUL WALK MIX”….Highly recommended action troopers….
” Trilogy Supreme”

My peoples MOBZ ONER recently sent me a write up that he spotted while floating around in cyberspace…LEE RHYANES (NMS University) did a nice write up on the “GMV” trilogy that boosted my morale levels….I have a funny feeling that 2016 will be a special year if things are already starting off like this…..
“GMVI (2012), GMVII (2013), & GMVIII (2014)…These records championed each year they were released like a Bulls or Lakers three peat…the third taking the listener back to the beginning in attempt to tie the story line together. I take away something new with each listen. It’s structure is cinematic, movie-like… a work of audio art turning the volume up on the comic book world. The way it’s composed from the beats to the rhymes inspires research”.

” 2015 : The Year Of The Snitch “

2015 was a great year for me in a myriad of ways (dropped three instro projects with Ayatollah – BOXCUTTER BROTHERS 1-3, put out GMV 3 with my cuzzo MF GRIMM – it’s technically a late 2014 release, but it really caught wreck in 2015, rocked a couple mixtapes, got engaged, travelled domestically and internationally, my son started kindergarten, etc)….Despite all that goodness a couple situations creeped me out…..
SAMPLE SNITCHES ON THE SET…..
I could never understand why certain dudes are obsessed with unveiling sample source material….I’m more passionate about flipping breaks that have never been used than riding another producers coattails and snitching them out…..For some odd reason I have been hit up numerous times this year with all types of fuckery – “DRASAR can you please tell me what you sampled for such and such”…. “If you don’t tell me what you sampled, I will find it anyway, c’mon please tell me what 45 you used”…..
It’s somewhat flattering in a cheesy type of way, but on the other hand it’s kind of spooky that some cats don’t respect your zone and they intrude on you without any true Hip Hop ethics…..For instance, WHO SAMPLED THIS recently threw me under the bus (SUCKERS)….
*It will be 2016 in about 45 minutes….Much respect to everyone that rocks with me, it is appreciated (I SEE YOU)….
” Oxilla Born : El Padrino “

OXILLA BORN ALLAH (AYAK / All Polo Everything Set) keeps the flames burning on the first leak from the STREET ELIJAH project… “El Padrino” produced by NYC Beast, cuts by DJ ALIAS !!!
Your boy get’s extra points for calling fake MC’s “rooster head niggers”….HAHAHAHAHA, turn the volume up a few notches duke….
” 1987 : Classic Material “

I’m going to transport you all the way back to Bridgeport, Connecticut circa 1987 for a round of heavy BBoy pressure via – the heavily slept on outfit the SKINNY BOYS (Shocking Shawn, Superman J, and The Human Jock Box)….Awwww shit, it’s clips like these that give me proper perspective on what a live performance is supposed to sound like…
Do yourself a favor and check in….
” Tru Masters : Blu Steel “

TRU MASTERS (J Mega & My Gawd)have been airing out their brand of hardcore for a minute now…I’m curious to hear what type of shit these two west coast cats have cooking up for 2016, until then peep the video for “Blue Steel”….
” Heatery “

” Blog Jewelry “

This post goes out to my dude RIFF who will be heading out to London in a few weeks (have fun duke)…
BLOG TO THE OLD SCHOOL is a site that plays no games when it comes to unearthing rare UK gems….For instance, this cut by JOHNNY MC “Uno Get Rough” instantly caught my attention-mainly because of the extremely heavy ULTRA MAG influence (this piece of UK 12 inch history will cost you 79 dollars on Discogs)….
” 45 King & K-Def Steez “

Yeah I know this instrumental excursion by production heavyweights 45 KING & K-DEF has been out for a minute, but I make sure to thoroughly listen to joints front to back before I let them fly on the Battlefield…..Regardless of whose name, label, or collaborators are attached….
So if you haven’t heard this yet, give it some quality spins duke!!
” Frozen Files #1507 “

If your like me your always on the hunt for new mixes, podcast, and radio shows to rock while driving…Instead of being content with my current rotation – it’s a must that I add new things to spark different thoughts and keep my morale up…
MATTY C & SCHOTT FREE have been holding down their FROZEN FILES broadcast for a minute now…..Over two hours of nonstop joints.
” Power Moves On Deck “

I distinctively remember when the POWER MOVES era was ushered into the BBoy scene….Dudes like TWIX, K-MEL, IRON MONKEY, MACHINE, IVAN and plenty others were / are well rounded dancers, but they would crush ciphers with the heavy air moves and power combinations….
Just when you think that you have seen everything – a new wave of BBoys take shit to amazing heights and beyond….If you think I’m bullshitting take a look for yourself…
” Mista Sinista Speaks “

This is the most in-depth interview on MISTA SINISTA that I have ever heard…If your a fan the X-ECUTIONERS, if you appreciate his contributions to beat juggling, or if your in the mood for Hip Hop history 101 – do yourself a favor and peep this recent Q&A session with the SOUTHERN VANGUARD…
“BANG! @southernvangard #radio presents the #MistaSinista #interview session! We take it back to Queens this week with one of the X-men’s / X-ecutioner’s finest – and given we’ve done interviews with Dr. Butcher & Rob Swift this year, it was great to connect the dots and get Sin’s history as a fledgling DJ in the late 80’s/early 90’s. We really take it back as we get into the immense, early influence his family had on him musically, the first hip-hop record he copped and how a lot of young folks today are missing out on experiences like this due to the way music is consumed. Dig in deeper, you say? How about the Loud days and Steve Rifkind’s vision for the group, Sin’s production work for Kukoo in the mid-90s and the infamous cuts he laid down for the Beatnuts & Common during the same time period…Resurrection…Are You Ready….The B*tch in Yoo…what more I can there be?! There’s lots more, but we can’t give it all away here, so buckle in and listen up people”
” Fat Lace Magazine # 10 “

After a lengthy hiatus – the FAT LACE MAGAZINE Crew is back on the set with more under the radar joints for your listening pleasure….
