” New Balance Bubbling “
NEW BALANCE has my attention once again….
Lately they have been rocking very flavorful colorways…For instance, these 996AH joints are straight up ridiculous…
“A cushy RevLite sole has been added to this beloved New Balance 996 silhouette, making the sneaker lighter overall providing the same durability and responsiveness, without losing any quality. The upper is make up of tonal green suede which is accented with brown around the heel and nicely contrasted with a sandy beige tongue and lacing system. The kicks are finished off with an off white outsole and metal eyelits, giving this mid top sneaker a hiking aesthetic”.
” Dj 10 Shun Wreck “
Some of DJ 10Shun’s music is so sinister that one of my friends is totally convinced he is an avid devil worshipper…
HAHA…
I’m not totally convinced of that, but I do know that he comes with some very ill shit that will give you some shock treatment…..If you think I’m bullshitting peep the visuals for “NEXT SHIT”…
Heavy scratch work, distorted drums, bugged out vocal samples, and all that other wild stuff on deck…
CHECK IN..
” Reading Is Fundamental “
I recently got my hands on “Reggae Going International – The Bunny Lee Story” and it is a heavy duty piece of work (you can tell by the cover that this brother was/is serious, HAHAHA)…
Bunny has a documentary in the pipeline as well…”I Am The Gorgon” will hit the big screen sometime in 2013, so keep your motherfuckin eyes peeled if you know what time it is..
The film was directed by Diggory Kenrick and animated by James Stirzaker. Narration is provided by Dennis Alcapone and the film includes interviews with U Roy, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Sly and Robbie, Johnny Clarke, John Holt, Ken Boothe, Horace Andy, Cornell Campbell, Linval Thompson, Niney The Observer, Dillinger, Tappa Zukie, Prince Jazzbo, Derrick Morgan, King Jammy, Scientist and many many more…!
Check in on the trailer cuzzo..
” A Band Called Death – Documentary “
Even though Hip Hop is my favorite form of music, I also spend a great amount of time studying Reggae, Jazz, and hardcore punk rock….
I’m not talking about that fashionista, cornball punk rock – I’m talking the extra fast, extra ugly shit that makes the average herb run for cover when it’s played at loud volumes..
No guitar solos, no extras, no bullshit – just straight to the point minimal blast of chaos that usually revolves around three chords (which means that you have to be really crafty with your arrangements to hold peoples attention)….
When cats talk about black punk rockers it usually starts and ends with BAD BRAINS…I grew up on their music like a lot of other people, but there were plenty brothers that caught wreck……
Off the top of my head : YDI, Circle One (RIP John Macias), DH Peligro (Dead Kennedy drummer), Scream, JFA (brother on guitar), Whipping Boy, Mcrad, Pure Hell, etc……I recently found out about a band from Detroit called “DEATH” that put out a few things in the early 70’s….
Peep this trailer and get inspired troopers….
” Roc Marciano Speaks “
Hempstead, Long Island repper ROC MARCIANO gets the interview treatment on the latest Combat Jack pop off…
“We’ve been trying to get this Hempstead, Long Island mc on our show for 3 years and we finally got him. Talk about history, from being a kid in Public Enemy’s Bomb Squad studio to rocking out with Busta Rhymes’ Flip Mode Squad, street hustling to going solo and dropping the Reloaded classic, this veteran ain’t no new jack, Jack. Marci also talks about being and exec and label co-owner, and why a whore’s clitoris tastes like porridge. Download and reload now”.
” Handstlye Action On Deck “
PRIZE ONE (GFC / TNS / SK) is no slouch when it comes to getting busy…As long as I have known him, I noticed that he is more about speaking with hands instead of flapping his lips like a lot of cats out there on the FIELD..
HAHA….
He has a blog that you should peep while your floating around in cyberspace….Flicks, jokes, blackbook work, Townbiz, etc…..SALUTE to you brother for keeping it fresh…
“Check In “
Remember when it was easy to come across “LIVE FROM THE HEADQUARTERS” download links ? If your like me you never had a SIRIUS radio subscription, so it was always nice to be able to hear what Premier was up to….
Unfortunately SIRIUS put a clamp on things over the last couple years…
Somehow I was able to track down a link for the June 14th broadcast…..
” Salute “
My man KUFUE ONERZ (he is responsible for the artwork on the GOOD MORNING VIETNAM cover) is a dedicated Hip Hop soldier, DJ, graff monster, historian, and a art teacher during the day….
He is a no nonsense type of cat that walks what he talks…..
This past weekend his artwork was showcased at the Oakland “Brighter than Blight” event…..Big up to you brother for keeping those flames burning…
” Rock Vendetta “
VENDETTA VINYL is on the verge of releasing some very flavorful T-shirts for everyone out there that knows what time it is…..
From what I hear they will be available early next week…..When you head over there make sure to tell them the grimy dude from HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD sent you jack !!!!
” More Percussion On Deck “
Yeah, this is more like it..
Will Sessions drummer, Byran Arnold keeps the drum breaks crunchy on the BOBO BREAKS series volume 1….Unfortunately the vinyl pieces are sold out, but you can still swoop up the digital release if your on the hunt for more drum goodness in your life…
Salute to Willie Bobo of course (R.I.P.)….

” Vocabulary Spill, Part 5 “
Even though we are living in a “PC” era (perpetrating clowns), every once in awhile I have to express how I see things…..
Sure anyone can be a critic, but unless you have the experience, studies, and knowledge under your belt to go along with it, the critiques end up sounding like empty rants….
For the majority of my life I have lived and breathed for this art form….Not only have I dedicated my life to it, I have actually taken the time to approach it as a serious student (anyone that halfway knows who I am will vouch for my claims)…..Am I trying to prove I am “more Hip Hop” than the next man, absolutely not, that would be ridiculous – I am merely attempting to convey how serious I am about this shit….
Walk with me as I state my position on a few acts of blatant fuckery…
1..”REVENGE OF THE HERBS”..
I’m thankful that the projects that MF GRIMM & I put together are sold out (GOOD MORNING VIETNAM & THE BE NOBLE / TIME 7INCH )…But I have to be honest, SOME of these Hip Hop record buyers for stores are straight up LOST…..
How SOME of these cats landed their jobs is beyond me…..What was their prerequisite to be in charge of ordering Hip Hop if they are not in tune with the pulse of it ?
If your a dedicated Hip Hop head – I highly recommend that you run down to your local record store and demand that they give you a job….PLEASE!!
2..”NEW AGE RECORD COLLECTORS”..
Since the early – mid 80’s I have been buying records (my dad was a DJ so he often brought me along when he was copping pieces), and it never crossed my mind to flaunt how much I paid for a record, brag about the rarity of it, or what country it came from – I was to busy scratching, blending, or chopping up that record to concentrate on all that other shit as a kid..
My point being ?
The point is obvious…..This is Hip Hop right ?
What the fuck are you going to do with that record ?…. Are you going to add on and flip that record for a purpose, or are you expecting a pat on the back because you found it in a moldy basement in Russia and only two copies were ever pressed up ? GTFOH..
When cats try to turn record buying into a self righteous, elitist, rich man’s game – Hip Hop loses……PERIOD.
3…”LACKING THE FUNDAMENTALS”…
A wise man once said, “If you can’t rock some decent blends, get from behind the motherfucking turntables”…..HAHA..
That shit always stuck with me, so whenever I see cats simply playing records instead of actually blending, scratching, trick mixing, rocking doubles, or at the very least power mixing, I have to “BLOW THE WHISTLE”..
Once you decide you are not going to take the time to mix in a set – you are actually opening the floodgates for all types of fuckery (like we have today)..
4..”SUGAR RAP”…
Motherfuckers try to act like shit is sweet, but if you really look around and turn your computer off for a second, you will notice that it’s not all good out here right about now….
Unemployment is up, unarmed teenagers are getting killed at the hands of wannabe cops (ZIMMERMAN DESERVES THE WORST IN LIFE), gas prices are sky high, over two million black men are in the prison system, etc.
Quit rhyming like life is one big fiesta, and bring some substance to the table….PLEASE…
5..”PAULA DEEN – QUIT COPPING PLEAS”..
We don’t love Paula Deen on this side, or believe her crocodile tears one bit…..HONESTLY…
Bigotry is still alive and it’s a motherfucking shame that some people are down playing this situation like it’s some sort of joke….If you think this shit is some type of joke I double dare you to check out the transcript of the testimony….

” Tat Money Speaks “
Just got back from Portland, Oregon for a 48 hour heavy digging experience….I was pleasantly surprised that “P-Town” had so many top notch record stores ( Big up to my man C-SLAYER for showing me around and opening up his private collection for the kid )..
Anyway, now that I’m back in Vietnam, California expect extreme heat on the blog this week….Another legendary Philly DJ gets the interview treatment : the good dude over at the OLD TO THE NEW BLOG recently rocked a interview with TAT MONEY……….Say word.
“Where were you hoping your passion for deejay-ing was going to lead to back then?
“I always knew that I could do something with it, but exactly what I didn’t know. I wanted to be in the game real bad and I felt like I was so close to it that I could almost reach out and touch it. So it was frustrating in a sense even though I always felt like I could make it happen. So to make it happen, I got my myself a job in a local record store because I’d read that Mantronik had used to work in a record store when he was trying to get into the game. So I got myself a job at the best record store in town, which was Funk-O-Mart downtown. I went down there two times and brought a ton of records. It must have been about a hundred and fifty dollars worth of records. It was a whole lot of records. I could barely even carry them home (laughs). The second time I went in there the owner saw me and was like, ‘You know a lot about records. Do you want a job?’ and I said ‘Yes!’ It happened just like that which was exactly what I wanted to happen. So I started working there every day.”
” Mo Fingaz Rocks The 45’s “
