” Tat Money Speaks “
Just got back from Portland, Oregon for a 48 hour heavy digging experience….I was pleasantly surprised that “P-Town” had so many top notch record stores ( Big up to my man C-SLAYER for showing me around and opening up his private collection for the kid )..
Anyway, now that I’m back in Vietnam, California expect extreme heat on the blog this week….Another legendary Philly DJ gets the interview treatment : the good dude over at the OLD TO THE NEW BLOG recently rocked a interview with TAT MONEY……….Say word.
“Where were you hoping your passion for deejay-ing was going to lead to back then?
“I always knew that I could do something with it, but exactly what I didn’t know. I wanted to be in the game real bad and I felt like I was so close to it that I could almost reach out and touch it. So it was frustrating in a sense even though I always felt like I could make it happen. So to make it happen, I got my myself a job in a local record store because I’d read that Mantronik had used to work in a record store when he was trying to get into the game. So I got myself a job at the best record store in town, which was Funk-O-Mart downtown. I went down there two times and brought a ton of records. It must have been about a hundred and fifty dollars worth of records. It was a whole lot of records. I could barely even carry them home (laughs). The second time I went in there the owner saw me and was like, ‘You know a lot about records. Do you want a job?’ and I said ‘Yes!’ It happened just like that which was exactly what I wanted to happen. So I started working there every day.”
” Mo Fingaz Rocks The 45’s “

” Rob Swift @ The Do-Over “
The legendary X-Ecutioner Rob Swift is behind the decks on this mix he rocked live at The Do-Over…
Do the motherfucking right thing and start your Saturday off correctly..
” Bates : Hall Of Fame “
Danish graff monster BATES, took it upon himself to create his own hall of fame….
If this doesn’t boost your aerosol morale levels, I don’t know what will…
” Lord Quas : Yes Sir, Whatever “
A couple nights ago I gave MADLIB’S newest offering “Yes Sir, Whatever” a decent listen in the system…..Even though some of the rhymes veer into the “STRUGGLE BARS” category – there were some beats that caught my attention…
” Underground Railroad 11 Mix “
DJ Norihito hits us with an avalanche of under the radar goodies on “This Thing Of Ours – Underground Railroad 11″….

” Joint Of The Day “
This cut by Tashane (RIP), A-Bless, A.G., and Majestic Gage is my top ranking choice for today (even though it’s only 7:45 AM Vietnam, California time)….”Come And Get Me” is a straight up ugly rhyme fest with SHOWBIZ on production…
Unfortunately, TASHANE lost his life recently….
It’s a shame because if you pay attention to his bars, you could tell that he had a certain potential about him…Plus being down with one of the most legendary crews in Hip Hop put him in a good position to be heard…
RIP…
” Library Records Wreck “
What up my HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD peoples ?
If your in the mood for a little library record action – BRUTON RECORDS is a good place to start…”Soft Illusions” comes equipped with all types of textures and soundscapes for you to rock out with..
A gang of composers on deck : Irvin Martin, Brian Dee, Les Hurdle, Alan Hawkshaw, etc..
” New Shit On Deck “
While talking on the phone with AKBAR yesterday he mentioned that there is a video for “Good Food”…..If you never heard this joint before, do the right thing and check in because this brother is still very sharp with his pen game…
Also, make sure you take heed to the words that he speaks about in this song, you might add a few years to your life homeboy…
Go cop his newest album “Planet X” on Peasant Podium Music….
” E-Blaze On Production “
DITC affiliate “E-Blaze” rocked a interview with the good people over at LOST TAPES that should hold your attention….
“Some people might still not know about E-Blaze, but that is rapidly changing. After immigrating to the US from his native France around 2004, he quickly became one of the illest, yet most underrated, underground producers lacing 12”:s for Screwball’s KL, and Blaq Poet, which was soon followed by dope beats for Smiley The Ghetto Child, Raze/Killah Priest, Big Noyd, and Infamous Mobb. His real breakthrough for many, however, came when he officially linked up with the legendary D.I.T.C. crew, being heavily involed in albums like Show & A’s “Live Hard”, “Oasis” by OC & AG, the “The Movement” compilation from D.I.T.C. Records, and so forth”.
Also, here is the download for a project “E” put together a few years back (For The Love Of It)…
” Kurious : Shorties Watching “
Kurious Jorge is back on the set with visuals for “Shorties Watching”….This sounds like some Summertime, drop top, body rock type of music…
Straight off the “Luv NY” project…Production by Ray West.
And while your at it I suggest that you give this in-depth interview with KURIOUS by Same Old Shawn a thorough listen trooper..
“This week, we talk to Jorge Alvarez, better known as Kurious. The New York-based emcee released his classic debut album A Constipated Monkey in 1994, following several years of singles and guest appearances with the likes of 3rd Bass and Del the Funkee Homosapien. Since that album, he continued to appear on record with friends like MF Doom and MF Grimm, but it was almost 15 years until he released a follow-up album, II, which showcased a newfound maturity and artistry.
We talked to Kurious about his career ups and downs, from touring with Nas and the Fugees to being stuck in a bad production deal for years at a time, etc”….
” Beat Junkie Sound – 2013 “
Here is the download for DJ Rhettmatic’s recent set at the “DO-OVER”…..To be honest I haven’t had a chance to fully analyze it yet, but once I do, I will make sure to give you my opinion….
” Under The Radar Steez “
DJ KAOS (Artifacts) recently unearthed some “pre-record deal” Redman material…..To my ears it sounds like it was recorded in 91 or 92..
This is so rare, that from what I understand Redman doesn’t even have a copy of this….Big up to DIRTY WATERS for the heads up..
” The Worst – Al Tariq Tribute “
French DJ, “The Worst” adds another joint to his tribute series with this strictly AL TARIQ collection…
I wish he would of included a couple cuts from the heavily slept on BIG CITY project…
