This is Cutty Ranks in 1986 killing the “Sleng Teng” riddim…….In my opinion there is no difference between reggae and Hip Hop…They both are known for emphasis on sound system culture, and crowd participation……It is no coincidence that Kool Herc migrated to the U.S. from Jamaica, bringing with him a thorough knowledge of records but also earth shattering bass….Which is a staple in Jamaican dancehalls………………What more can I say except, “Every posse get flat” ?………….Fire!!!

The south has a rich history of quality Hip-Hop…..I wont even start a list right now, but if I did “O.G. Style”, would easily be on the top 5…..He passed away earlier this year due to a massive stroke…His early producer “Big Boss” passed away some time ago………This album here ” I know how to play em’, was ahead of it’s time……Ill crime stories, menacing battle raps, sexcapades, prison yard narratives, this album has it all…..Another thing that really stood out is the production……Innovative sampling techniques, instead of amateur casio keyboard foolery…………..Turn the volume up to 10, and remember a time when southern Hip Hop had a more balanced representation in the mainstream……..
