" Summer Time Shenanigans "

Last weekend I headed up to Oakland hills for a little fiesta at legendary “Cray-One’s” crib….Here is little info on Cray if you are not knowing….

1…Dude has been smashing the graff world for over 20 years now (Talk about putting in work)…

2.. Filmed and published several times, such as in the book “Spray Can Art”, “Graffito”, “Piece By Piece”, and “Freight Train Graffiti”…..

3..One of the first graffiti artist to have a one-man gallery show on the west coast…

I think by now you get the motherfucking point, dude is no JOKE !!!!!

We had a real good time…Food was poppin, sun was out, and I had an opportunity to have a real heated discussion with my dude, “Bas-One” (Style Elements Crew/ N.S. / WASET)….Talk about heated, the conversation got so out of control that we both ended up shouting the lyrics to the demo version of “Rock The Bells” at each other…

” Jack The Ripper, King Hercules, / Professor of death on the seven seas ” …….(OH SHIT)…..

Thank you “Bas” for that conversation…We are not playing when it comes to this Hip Hop !!!!!!!!!

" Hardcore Hip Hop Will Never Die, Part 5 "

Are you tired of listening to cornball neo-soul type beats ?

Are you sick of hearing whiny, sap suckers complain about how their girlfriend left them high and dry ?

Me too trooper…HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Back in 1996 Trife & D-Mob (Who happen to be blood brothers) put out the Gun Town’s Finest L.P. on “High Wire Records”….Here are a couple joints from that album that will force you to break something up….

Produced by Tony Sturdivant….

" Hip Hop Battlefield Remix Series "

” I’m thinking of taking my own life, might as well / except that they don’t sell weed in hell….And that’s where I’m going because the devil is inside of me / they make me rob from my own nationality “………

(Sticky Fingers-Last Days)

BLAM, BLAM, BLAMZZZZZ……

I’m back with some more remix action for the HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD posse……

When I sat at my sampler yesterday making this beat, I knew deep down that I was dealing with some explosive frequencies…I was getting so hype, that I had to find a hype acapella to match the intensity of the sounds blasting out of my MPC..

Ahhhh, the “Evil Streets” by those crazy baldhead dudes Onyx……..This has to be in the top three of the best songs that the trio has ever made….And the crazy thing about this song is that, “Fredro Star” made the original beat….

For some reason after 1995 I stopped hearing what he was capable of doing behind the boards (It’s a shame because it sounded like he was headed in the right direction)….

Anyway, you know how I do…….All samples, all ugly, all Hip Hop Battlefield certified…..

" Under The Radar Rockets: Beat Nuts Edition "

In the nineties, the “Beat Nuts” could do no wrong…..

A few rowdy albums, a gang of heavy duty remixes, and a couple world tours solidified their stamp on the Hip Hop nation……

Here is a cut by “BN” that you probably haven’t heard before (Unofficial release)….”You Suckers Ain’t” is vintage Nuts, wild-out, party crasher type shit….

Big up to Vinyl Addicts…

LISTEN UP !!!!

" Monday Mixtape Madness "

The Opus is comprised of “Isle Of Weight” and “Echoes”, who have managed to create their own original sound….From their days with Chicago outfit “Rubberoom”, to their newest offering “Preying Mantis”, the duo showcase an ever expanding musical palate….

I personally lean more towards the Rubberoom-era material, but I have to admit that the newer stuff deserves your undivided attention as well….

Check out this mixtape that D.J. Risky Business put together…….Peace to my whole Chicago crate digging fam..

" Welcome Home Tragedy "

Fresh off of a stint from prison, “Tragedy Khadafi” gives us a glimpse into his beat selection process….It’s a shame that only one or two of these beats caught my attention…..

All you producers out there better step your CHOPS UP !!!!!!

Tragedy deserves more heat than this fam…….

Welcome home…

" Still A Prince Amongst Thieves "

Prince Paul easily makes my top ten producers list…..While most fools were still in the process of raping James Brown’s entire catalogue, Paul took things a step further and sampled from a wide spectrum of different genres before it became commonplace in the Hip Hop world…….

Of course he gets plenty of credit for introducing the skit, but he deserves more credit for being an all around hilarious character…..When I saw him spin a couple years back in Seattle, he had me laughing for the entire performance.

Maybe he should enter the realm of stand up comedy (I’m dead serious)……

Chris Faraone (Boston Phoenix) sat down with Paul recently for a quick interview……He discusses his feelings on Drake, Long Island, his son, etc….

" Greg Nice Interview "

” Dizzy Gillespie plays the sax / me, myself I love to max “…….

Wait, hold up a second…..Dizzy didn’t play the motherfuckin sax, he played the trumpet…..HAHAHAHAHAH…It’s o.k. Greg, we forgive you because “Funky For You” was a certified scorcher…

Greg Nice got his start beat boxing for T La Rock back in the early 80’s…..He went on to form Nice And Smooth and the rest is history as they say…..What people seem to forget is that Nice And Smooth were on Def Jam back then, and you couldn’t turn on MTV Raps without seeing one of their videos at the time…..

I’m talking major burn…..”Funky For You”,”Hip Hop Junkies”, “Rhyme Slow”, and “Dwyck” all recieved major airplay (I’m leaving out the song they did with New Kids On The Block because it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth)….Wow, MTV has sure changed for the worst…

Peep out this interview with Greg that was conducted by Jack Paine (Hip Hop Dx)…..He talks about his friendship with Tupac, Sleeping Bag Records, Hip Hop history, etc………Interesting read..

" Let’s Hear It For The B-Girls "

Martha Cooper and Nika Kramer first began documenting the new breed of B-Girlz in a breaking competition in Germany in 2004. Following the dancers to the biggest battles—including Mighty4 in San Francisco, the Spinfactor Finals in Rhode Island, Breaklanta in Atlanta, IBE in the Netherlands, and the International Battle of the Year in Germany—they photographed and interviewed B-Girlz representing everywhere from South Africa to New Zealand, from New York to California, and from Japan to Germany. Culminating in the first annual We B*Girlz competition at veteran B-Boy Ken Swift’s studio in Brooklyn, Cooper and Kramer’s work will introduce a new generation to the art of B-Girling.
