On the radio out there they played a form of reggae called “Jawaiian”, which consist of a cheesy, lovers rock steez…..At first I dismissed it as corny, but I warmed up to it after awhile….Atleast they didn’t front with the fake patois, instead they paid homage to the jamaican culture while singing about their own Hawaiian related issues (I cant front on that)….

" Lord Finesse Speaks "

The legendary D.I.T.C. underboss “Lord Finesse” takes time out of his busy schedule to chop it up with Passion Weiss. Com……Don’t sleep….

Talking Diggin’ in the Crates: There’s a lot of respect for you guys and what you bring to a project – you’ve often done remixes of whole albums for different artists. What it is it that you think makes a DITC production stand out?

We think outside the lines and we like funk, and we like soul, and we genuinely love great music. We love good music, and when we do what we do we don’t look at it as whether or not its going to rock in the clubs, or if the radio’s gonna play it; we think of good music overall before we go into the realm of what it’s going to do. It has to strike us. We want it – when it comes on, the first five to ten seconds – we want it to be, ‘Damn! What’s that?!’ That’s what makes Diggin’ in the Crates music extraordinary, and people have gotta understand: the greatest thing about living life is freedom of speech, right? Being able to say what you want to say. Music is the same thing, it’s just freedom of expression. You get to express yourself through music. So when you’re doing music, people want to hear your story, so if you’re gonna do somebody else’s story you shouldn’t even be doing music. If somebody gives you chance to tell your story and you tell somebody else’s story, you shouldn’t have that freedom of expression. Freedom of expression is about being different, about being who you are. And that about sums up Diggin’ in the Crates music: it’s who we are, you know?

" Hip Hop Battlefield Goes To Hawaii "

Yes indeed my friend, Hip Hop Battlefield will be broadcasting live from the captivating island of Kauai, Hawaii for the rest of this week…I have been here for a couple days, and it’s hard not to get caught up in the natural beauty of this lovely piece of paradise..

If there is any Hip Hop on this island I will find it……If there are any vinyl shops on this island I will find them…..HAHA….

You might ask yourself, “Why and the hell is he blogging on his vacation?”……..It’s simple, because I feel like it trooper……..Things are going to be a little slower this week, but I will still find time to post up a couple things here and there……(I will post up pics from my Hawaiian adventure when I get back to the mainland)

Here is a little info on Hawaii for all of those interested:

1. The Hawaiian alphabet only consists of 12 letters, A,E,I,O,U,H,K,L,M,N,P,W.

2. The Polynesians transmitted their knowledge and culture through speaking, dance and chants; they had no written language until the 1800’s…..

3. Hawaii is the 50th state in the U.S. even though it feels like a completely different country……

4. The Hawaiian ridge is the tallest mountain range on earth…..

I’m far from an expert on Hawaiian culture, but I am taking the time to find out about the Hawaiian people, and their rich history while I absorb the powers of their island on my short stay……I also want to send a big shout out to Monica, Azar (Your crazy funny man), and Big Josh for checking me in properly……

Anyway, here is a mixtape that I did a couple months back (Wax Weapons 30)….

If you missed it the first time, now you get a second chance to get your mind right…..2011 is going to be a wild ride on the Hip Hop Battlefield so stay tuned for more action….BLAM..

" Professor Griff Speaks "

Professor Griff has been hitting the lecture circuit pretty hard in recent years…..Even though I do not agree with all of his views, the brother is a very deep thinker and he has the uncanny ability to force you to think outside of the box (Which is definitely needed these days)….

He sat down with Tariq Nasheed to discuss his views on racism, P.E., the economy, secret societies, etc……..

While your at it, you should check out some of Tariq’s other podcast as well………I’m not really digging all the mack talk, but when he chops it up about current events he has my undivided attention……

“You should all know the formula by now – a selection of downlow, dirty breaks followed by a slice of nice beats, this time mostly post-2000 hip hop bangers. And please remember we supply only vinyl treats, no sneaky mp3 joints like those wack wannabee DJs LMAO. We aim to please so feel free to drop a comment if you like what you are hearing (it’s always nice to know where we get it right). Consider it a soundtrack to your new year. Enjoy – Kid Dyno”
