Oh yeah, the motherfuckin Alliance……King Of Chill (These days he man’s the boards for Premier’s Live From HQ Radio show), K-Swift, & D.J. Skill…..

Earlier members of the “Alliance Of M.C.’s” crew included D.J. Master Mike, D.J. Dice, & Kool C….

In 1988 they put out their one and only full length album, “We Could Get Used To This”……..Classic material indeed……After the crew disbanded King Of Chill went on to write & produce for M.C. Lyte, Audio 2, etc ……

I hear that a documentary is in the works for 2011….Keep your eyes open, also keep your eyes peeled for the Audio 2 & Alliance mini album entitled Flip- Flop (1986) and the Alliance- “Bustin Loose” E.P (1987)………

Here are a couple of my all time favorite joints from We Could Get Used To This….

“Leeches”

“Still You Sleep”

“We Could Get Used To This”

It looks like Prodigy will be exiting the belly of the beast on March 7th of this month…..Even though he has been incarcerated for the last three years, I’m quite sure it won’t put a damper on his shines….Matter of fact he has a autobiography type book dropping soon that you should be on the lookout for….

Until then, here is little session hosted by Havoc that will perk your ears up…..Tune in….

Are you growing tired of hearing sub-par lyrics ?………..God damn, it seems as if the bar has sunk so low when it comes to rhymes that I’m not even shocked anymore when I hear someone yelling that nonsense….

And nowadays you have these fools spitting these incomplete metaphors…For example, ” I will make it rain on you niggas, Seattle”……HAHAHAHA…….Nah, that incomplete metaphor shit is crazy wack….

M.C.’s like T La Rock, KRS, Chill Rob G, Kool Moe, Dee (Before all that Wild, Wild, West bullshit), Chuck D and many others inspired me to read more books in order to step my vocab level up a notch……Some of these new jack rap dudes only inspire me to listen to more instrumental projects…..

If your feeling the same way-scoop up this mixtape by Atlanta’s D.J. Fudge ( A name isn’t everything I guess)…….A nice collection of blended grooves for a chilly Tuesday evening…..

ENJOY….

Here is my favorite cut off the new “Bugsy The God” album that just dropped last week (My Point Of View) produced by Pikk….

Give it a listen troop…..

If your in the Northern California area make sure you come and check out the “Nothing But Style” art exhibit on March 12th….Sha-One, Riff Raff, Planet, and myself will be holding down the turntables with an arsenal of sure-shot dancefloor scorchers…..

Peace-
D

Even though Ice-T made a few ill advised moves during his illustrious career (Playing a cop, his horrendous reality show “Rap School”, a few god-awful movie cameos, etc)…..I still give him his proper respect for his influential contributions to this Hip Hop art form…..

Matter of fact, I would still put “T” on my all time top ten list of M.C.’s……SERIOUSLY……

Check out this trailer from the Ice-T documentary “The Art Of Rap”……….Appearances from Kool Keith, Immortal Technique, Grandmaster Caz, Chuck D, Big Daddy Kane, Raekwon, Lord Finesse, D.J. Premier, etc….

Usually when I post up something for the “Under The Radar” segment the material usually falls in between 1985-2000, but this time I’m going to bless ya’ll with a joint that dropped in 2011…

Earlier this year Ice Water repper “Polite” released a mixtape entitled, Staten Island……..Here is one of the standout cuts that you might not have heard before, “Get Your Shit Beat In”- featuring Raekwon, Chip Banks (R.I.P.), Trife, and Ghostface….

Jesse Serwer recently conducted a in-depth interview with one of Long Island’s finest, “Grand Daddy I.U.”…..The smooth assassin discusses Biz Markie, collaborations with Roc Marciano, Hempstead, and even his affinity for early dancehall tracks…..

” JS: You always had dancehall tracks on your albums. Were you a big dancehall head?

I.U.: Yeah, but I hate that shit now. The Jamaican artists now is wack to me. They fucked the game up with all this fast shit. I like slow, hard bass lines and all that. It’s all fast and stupid. Elephant Man and shit like that.

JS: What dancehall did you like?
I.U.: Ninja Man is my all time favorite. Supercat, Josey Wales, Admiral Bailey, Nicodemus, Tenor Saw”.

Read the rest here homeboy….

PEEP….

Earlier today I decided to give Apollo Brown’s newest offering a thorough listen (Clouds)…….Nice down-tempo, mellow grooves popping off on this joint…..

Give this a listen during late night hours for maximum effect…..

“Bridge Through Time”

“Shadows Of Grief”

It’s about that time to hit ya’ll off with some original “Pretty Tony” shit, and I’m not talking about that dude from the Wu who used to rock a stocking cap over his face….

Pretty Tone Capone (Mobstyle) easily makes my top 20 list when it comes to that hardcore shit……He sounded like a Harlem Willie Dee with a splash of Just- Ice……

He was once signed to Rick Rubin’s “Ill Labels”, but a solo full length album never materialized……However he did release a batch of singles in the early 90’s that have managed to age very well……

Salute to you “Pretty Tone Capone” for lyrics like this…….”Fuck the ransom, bullets start dancing / seen your nigga dead they had him looking handsome”………(OUCH).

“Can’t Talk Too Long On The Phone”……From the Def American 1992 promo tape….(You can thank me later, HAHA)….

And while your at it- you might as well peep the video for “Case Dismissed” and get your mind right…..POW,POW….

>

I’m going to take you back to 2004 with this radio broadcast on WPS1 with special guest Madlib & Peanut Butter Wolf…This is perfect for a nice drive on the town or a lengthy flight…

Turn the volume to ten, and prepare for another round of goodness…

PART 1…

If you think I am bullshitting, find out for yourself trooper….
