BBP clothing has been holding it down for a minute with the fly garments….They never cease to amaze me with thier color schemes, creativity, and overall appreciation for true school Hip Hop….
If you think I am bullshitting, peep this exclusive BBP * DD172* Ski Beats Tee……FRESH IS THE WORD….
Mista Sinista & Crossfader get busy on this mix featuring Large Pro material….
This initially dropped in 2002 as a promotional piece on Matador Records , but I promise you that if you haven’t heard it before this will definitely perk your ears up……
Damn, I was really surprised to see this floating around on the net…….”Get Your Mind Right” is a fresh new cut from the Jungle Brothers D.J. Sammy B…..
Be on the lookout for new material from the JB’s in the near future….
Hardcore rap dudes that try to front like they rock an ice-grill 24 hours a day…..I believe N.W.A. made such a huge impact because they were yelling straight up gangster shit, but they knew how to implement a sense of humor to go along with the gun talk….
Easy E was hilarious, Schooly D was comical, Just-Ice made you laugh, and Ghostface Killer kicks that strong arm rap shit, but he is one of the funniest motherfuckers out there….
For instance, “The World According To Pretty Toney” is nonstop laughter…….This comes in a audio book format so you won’t hear music, beats, or any of that…..
It’s just Ghost in full conversation mode, accapella………. Via HQ..
My Hip Hop comrade Peezo from “Funk What Ya Heard” recently put together a quick one-track mix full of vinyl treats…This is all the way live with no editing or any type of formats….Straight off the dome steez…..
You know how he gets it in, so quit stalling and swoop this up with a quickness if you know what’s best for you baby paw…
Even though it has been over two years since Tony D passed away in the physical form- his music still lives and continues to thrive….
When his wife left a comment on one of my “Tony D” R.I.P. post, the reality of the situation really hit me….He wasn’t only a exceptional producer : He was a husband, a father of two, and a man that wanted the best for his family just like everyone else….
I recently stumbled onto a Tony D dedication blog operated by one of his friends, “Shawn Luv” that goes into depth about his musical legacy, contributions, etc…..Do the right thing and check in….
With so many releases popping off on a daily basis, it’s impossible to stay on top of everything (Even if you are a dedicated Hip Hop student)….
Somehow this slipped past my radar when it initially dropped back in 2007…….If your in the mood to listen to some beats minus the bars, here you go trooper…….Take a listen..
Are you ready for some more rockets ? Alright my brothers- without further delay I’m going to slice you with that official shrapnel shit…
In 1996 Mastermind dropped a heavyweight single, “The Adventures Of Mastermind” that still sounds fresh in the system…..Do the right thing and scoop these blazers up with a quickness…
“Ambulance Ride” – Produced by Avatar & Mastermind….
After watching my team (Lakers) catch a brutal beatdown, it’s only right that I pump the volume up full blast on this explosive compilation….Dramatic Funk Themes Vol. 2 comes equipped with nonstop drum breaks, horns, etc…..
Aww man, this is fucking insane….Via- Funk Frolic…

Some cats are quick to throw Ice- T under the bus…….
Folks dissed him when he clowned that little jerk off ,”Soulja Boy”…..Many were quick to dismiss him after he dropped that Body Count shit..
And I can’t forget the fact that the man who once yelled “Cop Killer” at the top of his lungs, plays a cornball police officer every week on mainstream television (Yeah, I admit that is hard to swallow)……
But guess what, he still gets respect on the BATTLEFIELD…..And below are some reasons why…
1…Before Ice even finished High School both of his parents had passed away….Instead of caving in, he took it it upon himself to figure out a way to survive in South Central L.A. in the late 70’s early 80’s………How many of you trust funded Hip Hoppers still live with your motherfuckin parents ?
2…Sure Just- Ice & Schooly D were yelling gangster shit before Ice, but no one on the west coast except for maybe Toddy T represented that gangster lifestyle on wax the way Ice did……….He came before N.W.A. and everyone else that duplicated the gangster motif….
3..He attempted to put everyone in his crew “ON” with the formation of the legendary Rhyme Syndicate…….
4…His soon to be released documentary, “The Art Of Rap” looks like it will be one of the best documentaries on the actual science of crafting rhymes……..Here is the trailer again just in case you missed it the first go-round…
5..While many so-called gangster rappers only glorified the outlaw aspect of doing dirt, Ice always showed you multiple angles of that particular lifestyle……He openly discussed the consequences and repercussions of gangsterism unlike many of his peers at the time…
6..He was the first artist from America to sign a European Hip Hop act (Hi-Jack) to a major label (Warner Brothers-via Rhyme Syndicate)…..
I could go on for awhile but I think you get the motherfuckin picture……Ice T is a legend when comes to this Hip Hop shit regardless of his shortcomings and contradictions…..YA HEARD…..
Anyway, I just finished his new book “Ice – A Memoir Of Gangster Life & Redemption – From South Central to Hollywood”………Damn, he drops a crazy amount of proverbs, gems, and all that other fly shit for anyone that is willing to take the time to absorb 251 pages of substance………Highly recommended…
Last week I laced you with a Paten Locke track, now I’m going to splash ya’ll with another joint from the Asamov alumni : Willie Evans Jr has a new album on deck, Communication will be dropping on High Water Music sometime in the near future….
Here is the first leak (Communication) featuring Mr.Lif……
* I originally posted this back in 2008, but I had to bring it back because it deserves more burn…Big up to all the HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD regulars……
DONT SLEEP….
In 1996 Camden New Jersey’s, Krown Rulers dropped a second album,”Death Before Dishonor”. Why they waited almost 10 years after “Paper Chase” to release another album is a mystery to me… Regardless, the sophmore jinx scenario didn’t apply to “KR” because Death Before Dishonor rocked some heavy joints…
“Memories Of The Ruthless”, features Grand Pubah ( Now known as G-Law ) narrating tales of turf wars, shootouts, and revenge killings..You can tell by the way he spits his rhymes that he wasn’t too far from the mix of action….This is straight up raw Hip Hop with no apologies…
” Some Street Shit ” is just some all out, assault battle rap shit…It’s the kind of song you play before slapping someone upside the head..Check it out…
Even though ” Paper Chase ” is my favorite of the two records, DBD packs more of a new age STICK UP KID punch….BLAM..BLAM
I have been digging this cut from Rasheed Chappell, “What I’m Hear 4” for a minute now…..It doesn’t hurt when your joint is produced by the motherfuckin legend Kenny Dope…
If this beat sounds familiar to you- Kutmaster Kurt rocked the same sample source on Masters Of Illusion’s “Time To Get Right”…..Both producers did an exceptional job so I’m not complaining..
