Salute to you big Kebz for keeping those flames burning…

" Back In Effect Mode "

I’m back from my brief stay in Vancouver, Canada and I’m ready to keep this BATTLEFIELD shit fully charged up……WOW…Where and the hell do I begin ?

I had the opportunity to sit in and crack jokes on my homeboy’s radio show, “African Rhythm’s” with Dave Jones at the scenic University of British Columbia……This cat has been on the airwaves for 18 years and still has the time to run his own record store (Which is very dope by the way)…..His selections were stunning, explosive, and soul power infused….

All vinyl, all heavy, all flavorful……

You can download this hour and a half long session if your in the mood for some Summertime grooves….DO NOT SLEEP…

CHECK IN….

Big up Dave for blessing me with some more ill open drum breaks……Now I’m fully ready to abuse my sampler and take shit to a whole different stratosphere…..More remix chaos in the near future, be on the lookout troopers…

Anyway, Vancouver is a very diverse city with plenty going on……Checked out an ill Latino block party that made the party people show up in droves..

Seen someone get stabbed up….CRAZY….Dude was leaking all over the sidewalk trying to get his mind together and no one really seemed to care…I thought about taking a picture, but that would be tasteless and disrespectful right ?

I also traveled all throughout the city catching graff flicks (I will post pics later on this week)…..

All in all, Vancity is a thriving city with over 3 million people…..It’s a very international spot with loads of record stores, restaurants, shoe boutiques, gorgeous women (Seriously), clubs, gardens, smoke cafe’s (HAHA), and all that other fly shit…..I highly recommend it if your on the lookout for a quick vacation……

HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD will return to it’s regular momentum tomorrow morning…..I’m still trying to recover and get my mind back on Vietnam, California time……Big up to everyone that checks in on the regular, it’s going to be a wild week…..

PART 1…

PART 2

" Comedy Relief 2 "

Even though I have NEVER been a fan of your boy DMX, he recently made some comments regarding Drake and skinny jeans that I whole heartedly agreed with….

“I don’t like Drake. It’s nothing that he did to me, He actually is talented. It ain’t nothing personal. I don’t like his stuff. He has a little wordplay here and there, but when I see him and hear him it’s like—‘Money, I’m not rockin with that.”

Following those statements he continued with, “Yeah, the fucking skinny jeans and tight sweaters! Those are baby clothes. What are you shopping at Baby Gap???” he queried. “I think I’m gonna wear Timberlands until I die man. They may not be the hottest thing out, but Timbs keep reinventing themselves. Timbs is still on fire right now!”

Those words alone are enough to make me laugh myself into convulsions, but the funniest part is when Hip Hop DX’s readers chimed in with their own opinions…….This is when the comedy levels reach an all-time high….

YOU A JOKE WROTE…

” MOST THE NIGGAS ON THIS WEBSITE PROBABLY ROCKING THE SKINNY JEANS AND KANYE WEST GLASSES HAHA FAGGOT ASS NIGGAS… DRAKE IS WACK, HIS SONG IS EITHER SOME LOVE SHIT OR SOME YOUNG MONEY POP SHIT… NIGGA COULDNT RAP CHRISTMAS PRESENTS “……

HAHAHAHA…….

KING PONE ADDED…

“MAN, X WASHED UP…..HE AINT IN JAIL WORKING ON LYRICS, HE IN THERE STILL GETTIN’ HIGH BET. IT’S EASY TO GET DOPE IN THERE LOL……HE IN THERE SUCKIN THAT PIPE…FUCK OUTTA HERE X. BUT I DO AGREE W THAT SKINNY JEANS ISSH.”

Aww man, that one right there made me crack up like a motherfucker……

TC CONTINUED WITH…

I mean X, I respect your opinion, but you will never be hot like that again. You are no longer relevant, too many smoking crack incidents and wack ass songs you have been making, put you out the game, it’s over D, just bow out, you’ve have your time.

WOW…..

And lastly, THAT NIGGA blessed us with his take on X’s statements…..

” Ayo X, the fuck I need Timbs for I live in Tampa. It’s hot as shit out here nigga. Fuck your size 40 jeans with no belt hanging off yo ass nigga. A nigga can’t even walk in them shits, plus the sweat drippin off my balls and shit nigga.

Eat a hot bowl of dicks. If I wanna dress comfortable, that’s my fuckin prerogative.”

Like I said in the beginning, DMX has never really caught my attention……I appreciate the hyped up energy and all the aggressive antics, but I never really checked for all the dog barking, tinker bell beats, and mediocre lyrics……Regardless, I do not wish jail time on anybody and hopefully when he gets out this time he takes it easy…..

What’s the moral of the story folks, everyone and their mother has a motherfuckin opinion about Hip Hop…..HAHAHA….

" Hip Hop Battlefield Goes To Canada "

Ahhhhhhhh, where do I start ?

I bounced out of the lovely confines of Vietnam, California last night to return to the beautiful city of Vancouver, British Columbia.

Flying these days feels like your headed off to prison or something….

Everytime I fly somewhere they pull me out of the line-up, put me in a booth and preform all types of extra shit……Since I have dreadlocks (Haven’t cut my hair since 1994) they inspect my dome to see if I’m holding contraband in my locks….HAHAHA…

WHATEVER…

Somehow I lost my phone in the process……And to top it off these motherfuckers lost my luggage, and I’m still waiting for them to drop it off………Most people would have buckled under these circumstances, but not me amigo, you can’t hold back my Hip Hop morale no matter what the situation is…..So to cheer myself up, I headed to “Beat Street Records” and “Vinyl Records” to cop some new wax……

Damn, I already caught all types of heat……Open drum breaks, OST’s, library records, and even a copy of King Sun’s “Mythological” to my surprise…….

My birthday is tomorrow so I will post up a bunch of shit in the morning to help give your weekend some fire power…….And to all my peoples, my phone is MIA so if you need to get at me or even wish me a happy birthday tomorrow (HAHA, NO ONE CARES) leave a comment on the blog or call my girl and she will get a hold of me…..

Big up to everyone that checks in on the regular……….More post in a minute kid….

Oh yeah, their was a fuckin riot up here last week….Peep this footage (All of this was over a Hockey game…I still have never watched an entire Hockey game in my life, HAHA)……

ONE LOVE-
D

" 5 Sure Shots "

95 % of the time I will listen to something before I decide to post it up…..Back in the day you could rely on certain labels, artist, producers to deliver the goods without question, but these days even your most respected dudes occasionally drop mediocre joints or sub-par music….

Instead of randomly skipping through tracks, I actually take the time to analyze someone’s entire project….Don’t get me wrong, if I hear weird frequencies from the gate I might hit the eject button extra quick…But generally I give most albums that come my way an honest listen……

Here are my favorite cuts from a couple 2011 albums…..

1..Blaq Poet – “Bushmaster Music” featuring Vinny Paz & Lateb……

Stu Bangaz & Vanderslice did a nice job on the production of this album (Blaq Poet Society)…..Of course I would rather hear “Po” killing Preemo beats, but these two create some sinister shit that deserve attention….My only complaint with their production style is that it starts to sound a little repetitive at times (A lot of the songs rock piano samples, and many songs sound as if they have the same tempo)….

On this joint right here though, the rhymes synch up perfectly with the evil sounding backdrop……Sure shot single status if you ask me…

2..Imam Thug – “Remain Calm” produced by Hazardous Sounds…..

I wish Imam & Tragedy would come out with another “Iron Sheiks” project…..

During that period they were both rocking over grimy, sample based beats that pushed the boundries of drama rap…..On Imam’s newest mixtape (Mixcake) he chose to rhyme over synth heavy tracks (For the most part) that do not compliment his style in my opinion…But on this song he goes back to basics and the results are impressive….

3..DJ JS1 – “Life Word” featuring OC….

JS1’s new album “No One Cares” had it’s moments and this is one of them…….OC pays homage to Roc Raida and other fallen soldiers that passed away before their time on this sure shot…….

I’m diggin this one..

<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" width="335"
height=”28″ id=”divplaylist”>

4…Vast Aire – “Nomad”…

This song that was produced by Kount Fif sounds like it’s from a lost session from “The Cold Vein”……Metallic, futuristic, simple, raw, and most importantly original…..Out of all the songs on “OX 2010: Street Odyssey” this one caught my attention the most……

5…DJ Premier – “John T”…..

This instrumental is from “Beats That Collected Dust 2 “…….Guru would have definitely blessed this (RIP)…

" Rockets On The Battlefield, Part 3 "

What’s going on out there BATTLEFIELD posse ?

Are you in the mood for some under the radar rockets to boost your Hip Hop morale ?

DJ Nastee & Sebb splash up the set on East Village Radio with gems from Mobb Deep, Killah Priest, Raekwon, Big Noyd, Money Boss Players, etc……DO NOT SLEEP…

LISTEN UP……….

" Friday Firepower "

" Milkcrate Jewels 33 "

While diggin through my crates I stumbled onto a record that I haven’t listened to in awhile….

DJ Sat-One featuring Baby Black & Outerspace “Dangerzone”…..

I remember when Soul Spazm Records sent me doubles of this hot slab of wax in the early 2000’s when I had a radio show in Sacramento, California (Roughneck Radio)……Even though the rhyming is decent on this single, what stuck out most in my opinion was the fresh production by Philly’s own, “Sat One”..

A floating xylophone loop, horn stabs, heavy drums, and even a couple scratch sentences towards the end of the song = WIN….I could never figure out why this record didn’t get much burn on the mixtape circuit at the time…

Do the right thing and check in……

" Mid Week Rockets "

You never know when I’m going to strike on the BATTLEFIELD……Sometimes I might post three or four a day, other times I will fall back until something in my collection jumps out at me…

Regardless, I promise to turn the heat up a notch because I’m feeling good, the sun is out, the record stacks keep getting chubbier, and most importantly more people are scoping out the BATTLEFIELD than ever……It’s been almost four years since I decided to start this blog and I do not plan on stopping….

Why ?

Because this is not work for me…..It’s more of a Hip Hop experiment to see if cats are still checkin for certain things out there…To my surprise, without having to set up a Twitter account or a Facebook page, or even without promoting the blog whatsoever – people still miraculously find HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD……

This mix by KoKo (With The Dope Sound) is perfect theme music for starting trouble……Turn your system up a bit and let’s get into this trooper…..

" On The Road Again "

Since I’m heading to the beautiful city of Vancouver, British Columbia next week, it’s only fitting that I pull out some material from those dudes up north….

Back in the 80’s the first Hip Hop shit I heard from Canada was Fresh Wes, Dream Warriors, and Michee Mee…….Over the years groups like “Down To Earth”, “Checkmate”, “Saukrates”, and “Black Eye” have impressed me with their approach to the artform….Matter of fact Black Eye (R.I.P.) had a couple songs from the 90’s era that still remain in my rotation to this day….

For some reason most cats in the States are oblivious to what is going on up there…..Believe me, there is more going on than that cornball Drake/ Drizzy or whatever the fuck he calls himself…….When I was there last year I couldn’t believe how many record stores, sneaker boutiques, and clubs they had downtown…..So I’m headed back for another round of Hip Hop holiday activities…..

I noticed that I have quite a few Canadian cats peeping the BATTLEFIELD……If you know of some things poppin off between June 22-27th, let me know what’s happening….

Anyway, scoop up this mix by Filthy Rich (Norther Touch)…….Nice selections, blends, etc….
