” Kurious : Delusional “
7 days ago KURIOUS dropped a brand new joint for 2014 entitled ” Delusional “…It’s nice to hear the CM Mob trooper still hasn’t lost a step…
Speaking of CM Mob, check out this interview by FRANK 151 that goes in-depth about the crews beginnings, key players, etc….
There’s a natural weakness to the memory of hip-hop. For a movement that transcends so many media most of its history is still firmly defined by its musical output. What’s said on a record tends to become the permanent record.
This is the slightly unfortunate case of the CM Crew (or Mob or Famalam). Immortalized on Kurious’ Constipated Monkey LP and the KMD song of the same name, the present day hip-hop listener might easily mistake the collective for a mere rap crew. It’s not that and it never was, exactly. While their ranks certainly boasted some serious musical talents—Kurious Jorge, KMD, MF Grimm, Powerule—CM was, in fact, a much looser affiliation with roots that can be traced back into the graffiti underground of the early ’80s and branches that have since grown into all pockets of the entertainment industry and beyond.
“It started as a graffiti crew before we were rapping,” says CM founder Kadi Agueros, who then wrote under the name EROTIC. “Criminal Minded was one of the names, Cash Money was another.”
” Blog Shots “
Every once in awhile I will shoot you in the direction of a blog that is holding the goods…UNIK ONE over at the Golden Era Blog is flooded with under the radar vinyl rips, mixes, nostalgia and all types of other shit…
While recently scoping out his spot I noticed a post rocking SACH’S newest record (Grand Daddy Sach) which I didn’t even know was out….
” Golden Triangle On The Set “
VENDETTA VINYL is known for pressing up rugged slabs of wax, but they also pressed up a limited batch of CD’s for the “GMV-2 GOLDEN TRIANGLE” project that MF GRIMM & I put together……So if you do not own a turntable you can still get a copy of this critically acclaimed release to rock out with…COP HERE…
GRIMM & I recently took a break from recording “GMV-3” for some interview action with CLAAA7 from LOST TAPES out in Sweden….He asked some well thought questions regarding our recording process, history, plans, outlooks on Hip Hop and all types of wild shit that will hold your attention….
” Melanin 9 : Amulets “
London rhyme slinger MELANIN 9 gets the wax treatment on Blunted Astronaut Records….Limited to 500 copies, shipping March 20th…
MELANIN 9
Founding member of Triple Darkness. Keeper and teacher of higher knowledge, M9 graces Blunted Astronaut Records with two written scripts. Title track “Amulets” is a metaphorical odyssey depicting the daily struggle over a nostalgic beat conceived by The Summit. The order of the day is smacking snares and 12-bit aliased horns from the North London production outfit.
“Cloudsteppa” continues the journey into the world of suspense and provides a vivid imagery over a tense, library constructed arrangement by DJ Drinks.
UK Hip Hop legend Lewis Parker adds his verse and deconstructs the status quo with his trademark chops on a remix uniting the two most influential artists on the scene today.
Tracklist:
Side A:
1. Amulets
2. Cloudsteppa feat. Lewis Parker
3. Cloudsteppa feat. Lewis Parker (Remix)
Side B:
1. Amulets (Instrumental)
2. Cloudsteppa (Instrumental)
3. Cloudsteppa (Remix Instrumental)

” Buckshot Vs. Ebro “
EBRO comes to the table with his usual “smoke and mirrors agenda”, but I’m quite sure any self respecting Hip Hop head can see through the fog…BUCKHOT makes some valid points and holds it down somewhat (he let EBRO off the hook instead of completely destroying his argument)…..
*BUCKSHOT should dead that sneaker line……HAHAHA.
” Sun God Steez “
When it comes to who is the nicest among legendary Hip Hop figures offspring, SUN GOD (son of GHOSTFACE KILLAH) might just get the championship belt (prove me wrong if you believe otherwise)…
Instead of rocking with current trends within his age bracket, he has opted to stick to the script of crafting boulevard bully bars….On my personal favorite from J-Love’s newest mixtape (FLOOD GATES), SUN GOD let’s loose over heavy, sinister sounding vocal chops…..
” Hip Hop Treats “
If you need more coffee table ammo in your life – FREDDIE FRESH supplies the goods once again troopers !!
The RE-SAMPLING DICTIONARY (Black) Find out who sampled Parliament, Chic etc… A great counterpart to the Sampling Dictionary – one that offers up most of the same material, but in reverse! Like that volume, this one offers up a huge list of tracks that have been sampled by hip hop songs and shows exactly who used these samples! – over 17,000 listings of different samples from the past few decades. 252 Pages of critical information for DJs, Beatdiggers, Producers and music fans These are the only remaining copies worldwide they were made in Tokyo once the are gone they are gone forever…
” Library Wreck “
First of all I want to send a big salute to everyone that checks HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD on the daily (I SEE YOU)…..
I’m going to keep launching nonstop heat on a regular basis – so make sure you stay tuned or you will miss out on certified jewelry, for instance this “Beat Action” RKM library record from 1980 is loaded to the brim with all types of explosive shit…
You know the motherfucking drill…

” From Mambo To Hip Hop “
Finally got around to checking the very thorough “FROM MAMBO TO HIP HOP” documentary recently….This is a heavy piece of work..
DONT SLEEP (Watch in it’s entirety)..
Another classic Hip-Hop documentary by Henry Chalfant. From Mambo To Hip Hop: A South Bronx Tale is an hour-long documentary that tells a story about the creative life of the South Bronx, beginning with the Puerto Rican migration and the adoption of Cuban rhythms to create the New York salsa sound; continuing with the fires that destroyed the neighborhood but not the creative spirit of its people; chronicling the rise of hip hop from the ashes; and ending with reflections on the power of the neighborhood’s music to ensure the survival of several generations of its residents, and, in the process, take the world’s pop culture by storm.
