” M.F. Grimm Week, #6 “
” Bullets are homeless / and the homeless need a place to rest “….
That is one of the meanest lines written in the entire history of rap..
PERIOD..
When I listen to this song today, I instantly transport back to 1994 when I first heard this on KCSB-FM…Here a couple reasons why I classify the “What A Niggy Know Remix” as a sure shot classic…
1…By 1994 many producers had rocked vocal samples (“I’m Not Your Puppet” by Hi-C & “Tearz” from the Wu-Tang Clan come to mind), but no one was freaking them on 45 at the time (prove it to me if you think I am wrong)…
Over a decade later, Kanye West, The Heatmakers, and many others made this production technique commonplace with less than stellar results in my opinion….
2…Even though “So Watchu Want Nigga” had already dropped, this is the first time many people (including myself) heard Grimm on the mic..
3..Grimm is in straight up B-52 bomber mode with many venomous lines,
” I keep my ugly rhymes in the cellar of my cranium / where no one can see them, but he’ll cry for freedom “….
Or the equally sinister, “Your deader than a door nail / lips blue, skin pale, all hail Grimm”…
Damn…..I could literally go on for days breaking down the fine points of this remix, but instead I will just turn the motherfuckin volume up and catch a zone…..
” M.F. Grimm Week, #5 “
If you haven’t heard the “Order Of The Baker: Gingerbread Man Mixtape” with DJ Stricknine I highly suggest you go track that shit down….
There is a mysterious cut on there entitled, “The Oven” that is straight up ridiculous….It’s obvious that Grimm had to methodically plot out his bars to stick with the concept (a lost art these days).
” M.F. GRIMM WEEK, #4 “
Take a listen to this recent MF Grimm interview on Freddie Lockhart’s “What’s Good” podcast…
He breaks down his Hip Hop pedigree, upcoming projects, comics, and all types of other shit that will hold your attention…
Rest in power ROC RAIDA..
” M.F. GRIMM WEEK, # 3 “
Big up to MB from Paris, France for getting the trivia question correct yesterday..Some of you got the question right, but MB beat you to the punch…
HAHAHA…
Anyway, MF Grimm’s graphic novel “Sentences” should have a place in your personal library if you consider yourself a serious Hip Hop student….Instead of your average ” HIP HOP SUPERMAN” stories, Grimm keeps it brutally honest without all the extras…
Reading is fundamental troopers, so quit stalling and get yourself a copy if you haven’t already…
” M.F. GRIMM WEEK, #2 “
Why is it MF GRIMM week on the BATTLEFIELD you might ask yourself ? Let me fill you in trooper…
1…Early December we will be dropping the “GOOD MORNING VIETNAM” project on VENDETTA VINYL….Grimm on the mic, yours truly on the production…It’s going to be the COLDEST Winter on record, so stay tuned for the snowstorm..
2..This Wednesday I will release the “Pre-Emptive Strike” mixtape that is fully stacked with classic Grimm material….Hopefully this will hold you over until December…HAHA..
3…MF GRIMM is on my top five favorite MC’s list…..I double dare you to go back and listen to his catalogue and say otherwise….Who else from the early 90’s can still rock in this era without sounding rusty or thirsty for new-age cornball acceptance.. ?
NOT MANY…..
4..When we recorded “GOOD MORNING VIETNAM” we did it together….No e-mailing studio sessions, or any of that other shit which enabled me to witness how meticulous he is with his bars….
Dude is far from a slouch with his writing process…He is a certified Hip Hop legend and it was a honor to see how gets down for his crown..
* Now that I got that out of the way I have a little Hip Hop trivia for you….The first person to get the right answer gets blessed with an MF GRIMM autographed copy of “AMERICAN HUNGER”….
What studio was “So Watcha Want” recorded at?
You only have 48 hours to get your mind right, so act quickly…..Send the answer to ZJUDAH@YAHOO.COM…..
* The trivia question was answered by “MB” from Paris, France….Big up to everyone that attempted to get the answer correct..
” M.F. GRIMM WEEK, #1 “
Alright folks, this is the first entry in my week long “MF GRIMM” extravaganza…..It’s going to be somewhat difficult because my dude has been dropping heavy material since 1993….
So it’s only right that I kick things off with his first commercial release, ” SO WATCHA WANT NIGGA”…..He put this out on his own imprint “Underground Records” and it was produced and mixed by Sean C with cuts by the late great Roc Raida…
Grimm lets off nonstop aggressive battle bars that have managed to age well over the years, for instance, ” Rappers run around in a rampage in their video, but look scared as shit when their on stage “….
HAHA..
” They will die together I spray once / Grimm Reaper haunts spooking niggas like a seance “….
” Roc Marciano : Her Vice “
Be on the lookout for “Reloaded” November 13th troopers….
Until then, here is another non-album leak featuring Knowledge Pirate that will help you get your motherfucking mind right…BLAM,BLAM,BLAM..
” AZ : From A-Z Mixtape “
To get us prepared for “Dough or Die 2”, Patski Love dropped this comprehensive AZ mix….I wish they wouldn’t have played some of the songs that contain all the singing/sanging, but the playlist is extensive enough to make up for it somewhat..

” Thud Rumble Steez “
Last weekend I ventured out to the “THUD RUMBLE” store in San Mateo…The spot is filled to the brim with Hip Hop history, classic Vestax mixers, break records, gear, artwork, accessories, and all types of fresh shit (I had to cop the ill sweater in the pic below)..
Glad to see some official D.J.’s get their piece of the pie for once….
If you don’t live close to the bay, but you still want to see what they have cooking over there – I highly suggest that you peep their online store homeboy..
” Gangstar Foundation : Krumbsnatcha “
Unfortunately I haven’t heard much from Krumbsnatcha in 2012…
He is a fully capable MC, but sometimes his beat selecting skills are somewhat questionable (maybe one day we can get a album with strictly Preemo on production duties)..
DJ Lord Ron (UZN) recently tapped into Krumbsnatcha’s catalogue for a session packed with remixes, collabos, surprises, etc…
” DJ Four Eyes On The Breaks “
The Super B Beat show has been on hiatus for quite sometime now…I’m not sure what’s going on over there, but this episode with DJ Four Eyes should hold you over until they re-launch….
Peace to all the fam out in San Diego..
And while your at it, you might as well swoop up this mix from Four Eyes (Sub Ink Flash)…I’m not a fan of the intro – but things start cooking shortly afterwards so don’t trip cuzzo.
“This is the new volume from DJ Four EyeZ’s series called SUB -INKFLASH. This mixtape has Original shit including breaks, latin breaks, israeli breaks, my own breaks, crazy funk & soul beats and ofcourse a ton of funk”!
” LFHQ : 10/26/12 “
Stretch & Bobbito along with DJ Eclipse filled in for Preemo on the latest edition of Live From Headquarters…It’s nice to hear these two invading the airwaves once again with their brand of comedy, fresh selections, and all that other wild shit..
Do yourself a favor and scoop this up before the link gets broken homeboy…
” Juice Crew Allstar : Craig G “
A couple nights ago I listened to Craig G’s newest joint, “Ramblings Of An Angry Old Man”…It’s a solid effort with contributions from Beat Minerz, Marco Polo, etc….
Here are HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD’S top picks..
“Effortless” featuring Chaundon & Big Pooh..
“Rare Day”
“Get In The Streets”
” Constant Deviants On Deck “
Constant Deviants will be releasing their latest offering, “Diamond” sometime this fall on Six Two Six Records…Luckily DJ Cutt gives us a sneak peek into what the duo have been cooking up lately…
” Boot Camp Steez “
Sean Price & Big Dru Ha are the special guest on the latest broadcast of the Combat Jack show….
Prepare yourself for a healthy round of jokes, 20 years of BCC history, and all types of other wild shit..
