D.J. Carrado lets off some heavy steam with this ” Sopradope ” mix…He keeps it interesting by sprinkling Soprano dialogue throughout..( never really watched the show, but entertaining nevertheless )…
Instead of hitting us off with a bunch of 90’s joints you have heard a million times, he keeps his playlist unpredictable…Peep for yourself…

One nation under a groove….Peace to all my Z’s out there worldwide..
What up all my beat freaks out there…It’s time for me to bless you all with some brand new production to keep your ears perked up….This is a remix that I did of ” Blood Type ” ( Tragedy Khadafi )….
When I was in the process of slicing this one up, one of my homeboys screamed, “Sounds like you sampled that from a Chi-Lites song”…..HAHAHAHA…..Yeah, he was way off course with that one….
I normally don’t expose my samples or even the group who I sampled the shit from….But today I am in a giving mood so I will unveil the groups name for the HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD posse ….The name of the group is , ” Honey Cone ” and if you want to find out more about this very flavorful group of soul sisters click HERE……
Moving right along…..I was pleased with the results of this remix, I think it captures the ugly vibe I was going for.
Put on your helmets, strap on your seat belts, lace up your space boots and prepare for take off…..
Tragedy was sentenced to prison on December 27, 2007….He is scheduled to be released on January 21, 2110…
Eclipse filled in for ” Premier ” on his Serius/ X.M radio show last Friday….” Cormega ” pops up on the set to chop it up as well..All new music, doubles, blends, etc…

Make sure you tune into this ” Extra P ” podcast by the ” Thermal Soundwaves Crew “….Trust me, you do not want to sleep on this one…
This is what they had to say regarding the session……
” The Radio Boys (C.Truth, Kev Lawrence) got a live in studio visit (boom box et al) from one of the top hip hop producers of all time, Large Professor. Extra P was extra cool and dropped the science on: keeping it traditional, the queens movement, KRS-One putting the garbage lid on the Q-borough, bringing up a young Nas, how the Source magazine put the clamps on one of the best albums “Vagina Diner” by Akinyele, why it took so long to release a solo album of his own, why he doesn’t play politics, making pause tapes, his mentor Paul Sea, why he doesn’t own ear buds, the burner era, and why “It’s a boy remix” by Slick Rick is his favorite track that he produced. Large also gave his views on the right tools for production, Africa bambaata, and the bond between himself, Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Q-Tip. He is working on new material for Nas and has provided sounds for Rakim, Tradegy, Akinyele, Busta Rhymes, Organized Konfusion, Common, Big Daddy Kane, A tribe called Quest, and U-God to name a few. Great authentic episode. Give your ears some entertainment “.
The good folks at ” H.H.G. ” just conducted one of the best ” Rakim ” interviews I have read in a long time..He discusses the current rap scene, upcoming projects, the demise of scratching on tracks, his legacy, Dr.Dre, etc…
Be on the lookout for the ” 7th Seal ” album when it drops, OR ELSE….If Rakim can get access to some explosive beats, I honestly believe he can change the game once again….
Hip Hop is funny sometimes…
You buy someone’s record, beats are banging, rhymes are on point….Your faith in 21st century Hip Hop is restored…So you decide to check out their live performance because you are convinced they are the undisputed truth….
Only to find out dude has no confidence, no breath control, no crowd interaction skills, and ultimately no fucking right being on stage….
That’s why I always loved, ” Live At The Apollo “…..If you didn’t have a decent stage show, you would get hit off with a gang of ” WAMP WAMP’S “, next thing you know your jive ass is scurrying off the stage…HAHAHAHA….
This particular dynamic does not apply to Q.B. rhyme monster , ” Blaq Poet “…..On this live performance in Austria, ” Po ” gets down for his crown JACK !!!!!!!!!
This was recorded straight from ” Premier’s ” turntables, so the audio is pretty crisp not a bunch of static and unwanted feedback.
Shout out to D.P.B…
If you enjoyed volume one of the D.I.T.C. Rare Breaks series, get prepared, because volume 2 is going to blow your god damn head off….
” Showbiz ” pulls out some of his grimiest records for this loop digger extravaganza….Over 45 minutes of B.X. beat science that will have you hitting the repeat button….
Enjoy…..
The weekend is here again……So here is some theme- music to help jump start your Friday shenanigans…Peace to everyone that checks out HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD on the regular…..

Awww man, this morning I lost one of my Zulu brothers, James ” Talk-Sick ” Sullivan …..He was a true Hip Hop historian, friend, comedian, and all around decent human being…..
We would have long Hip Hop history discussions over the years, and I can honestly say that when it came to Hip Hop, he was a extremely thorough cat….This saddens me deeply, I just spoke to him a couple weeks back….
” Talk- Sick ” loved the BATTLEFIELD FUNK RADIO show, matter of fact he answered one of our trivia questions with the greatest of ease just weeks ago……So I sent him a little Hip Hop gift bag to show my appreciation only to find out he was in the hospital fighting for his life……
Life is real fucked up sometimes……The good die young, while evil, pieces of shit types carry on with their wicked ways…..2009 has been a year of great loss for the Hip Hop nation….Today we lost another soldier…
My condolences go out to all the Seattle Zulus, Talk-Sick’s family and his girl ( stay strong, we got you ), and everyone else that ever had a chance to build with him……
I really cant believe you are gone man…….We will miss you…R.I.P.
It’s only right that I post up a remix I did of ” God Bless Ya Life ” ( Ill Biscuits )…….
When many people think of Oakland, they think of crime, gangbanging, the Raiders, police brutality, etc…..But their is a whole other side of Oakland that rarely receives any press….The Hip Hop side….
Oakland has a very deep Hip Hop history…..Saafir, Souls Of Mischief, Too Short, Paris, Oakland Faders, Hobo Junction, and too many others to mention have definitely left their mark on Hip Hop history….
And you cant even talk about ” D.I.Y ” Hip Hop without bringing up Oakland…..Back in the early/mid 90’s, you would see all types of cats posted up on Telagraph street slanging dope tapes instead of straight up dope…..
This past weekend I checked out a free Mighty 4 park jam in the heart of the ” TOWN “…….Even though this event was attended by hundreds of people, I didn’t see one police officer, didn’t see any kind of violence, and I didn’t see any local media coverage ( they only cover the negative shit I guess )…..
I had a great time…..B Boy circles, live graffiti battles, good food, fly women, sunshine, and to top it off ; my Zulu chapter received an award for putting in work for over a decade…..
Big up to Daze, Paulskee, Bicasso, Kirby Dominant, Bas 1, P, Mannie, G, Dragon, Sars, Santa, Fooderz, Marks, Roach, Reef, Kufu, Dream One’s brother, Mel, cats from Fat Lace S.F. ( thanx for the package ) Rock, ,Riddim, Riff, Sha, Nick Name, Monch, Bron, and everyone else that made it out…..
Here are some pics from the event……

PIECE BY STYLE SUPREMACIST ” REFA ONERZ “…….( North Starz aint playing kid )..

KIRBY DOMINANT AND BAS 1……That Rapitalism album is still fresh……

GOD DAMN, THE COLOR SCHEME ON THIS IS NASTY…..

ME AND MY OLD ROOMATE, ” BICASSO- FROM LIVING LEGENDS “…..
When it comes to straight up comedy on the mic, ” Kool Keith ” is in a class by himself…..Who else would rock a Elvis wig, paint his face green, and lamp with a dead parakeet on his shoulder ?
Eazy E and Kool Keith have/had the uncanny ability to make me crack up anytime I heard them spit a verse….On the mysterious ” Personal Album “, Kool Keith lays down some of the oddest rhymes ever recorded in the history of music ….
This album was produced entirely by ” K.K. ” and is limited to 500 hand-signed copies….. Here are a couple of the funniest highlights…..
” Girl Want To Kill Herself ” ( Aww man this is just crazy )…..
