" Blacastan: Black Sabbath "

The Blacastan 2010 assault continues with the release of his newest offering, “Black Sabbath”…I gotta give him daps for keeping it gritty when most cats are trying their hardest to sound as non-threatening as possible (YA HEARD ME)..

Blacastan brings some well thought out concepts to the table, Ozzy Osborne interludes, intricate stories, and plenty attitude to create a enjoyable listen.

Here are a couple highlights..

" Ayatollah : The Quixotic Remix E.P. "

The word quixotic caught my attention straight from the gate…So a curious brother like myself had to pick up a dictionary to find out about the science of this word I have NEVER heard before…

According to the Webster’s New world dictionary quixotic means- extravagantly chivalrous or foolishly idealistic…Oh word, now I see where “Ayatollah” is going with it…

Last night I took time out to listen to his new batch of remixes…Decent stuff poppin off..

CHECK IN !!

" Zulu Beats, Part 2 "

" Hip Hop Battlefield Remix Series "

More production mayhem straight from Drasar Monumental’s boom-bap torture chambers (HAHA)..I decided to give Mega Montana the remix treatment and sprinkle some dirt underneath his vocals….POW-POW….

So quit stalling, turn the volume to ten and check out how I get down for mine !!!!!!!

" 3 K.G. & Godfather D Sure Shots "

When I first heard “Wax Maniac” back in 1989, (Thank god for KCSB) I completely lost control of myself….At the time many M.C.’s were bigging up their D.J.’s , but “Unique” put plenty heads to bed with venomous lines like, ” Suckers he’ll wax and tax like a maniac / far from a new jack more like a battle axe “….

Almost every line in this song goes straight for the throat with nonstop, battle-ready drama !!!!!!!! It’s obvious “Unique” came from the Kool G. Rap/ T-La Rock/ early L. L. Cool J school of rhyme: but he he added his own twist to the multi-syllable approach and doesn’t get nearly enough credit for it…..

Salute to K.G. & Godfather D for creating some timeless hardcore…

“Wax Maniac”- Still bangs hard as fuck even to this day.

“Rage Of A Master “-Two thumbs up..

“Pure Dynamite” – I prefer this version over Brand Nubians use of the same sample years later…..

" On My Beat Tape Shit "

O.K. O.K.- I’m feeling this brand new beat tape by that kid “Dela” (Robert Glasper) even though every song rocks a piano sample..He has a good ear for composition, drums are nice and crisp, and he manages to create a nice 4.A.M., after the disco type of vibe…

Hip Hop Battlefield gives this project the two thumbs up homeboy…

" Style Warz, Part 10 "

Book Description
Over 400 eye-popping photos provide a decade-long tour of graffiti in New York City. Walls, trucks, and subway cars are featured with graffiti by the crews X-Men, KD, TNB, 156, RIS, AOK, TC-5, FAME CITY, COD, XTC, TFP, MCI, IF, DYM, 718, TD4, SMART, TATS CRU, FLY-ID, GFR, AKB, and many more. Because New York City has made a concerted effort to remove graffiti from the city, the images captured here will never be seen again. Walls were repainted and some buildings were demolished, keeping graffiti crews working fast to keep ahead of the trend. The author worked even faster to capture their ephemeral efforts. If you have a fascination with urban life and colorful expression, this book is definitely for you
