" Quality Over Quantity "

There have been times that I have posted something up, only to realize later on, that it wouldn’t make the cut on the BATTLEFIELD and I would have to take it down…..

I cant subscribe to the thirsty blogger mentality…..So just keep in mind that when you touchdown over here, that I go through a screening process….HAHA…

Even if your my motherfuckin friend, I still have to give you the BATTLEFIELD stamp of approval before you get your shines…

With that being said, this mix by Platurn, Teeko, and Zeph is out of control…..After the first 20 minutes I had to turn it off, because it made me so hype I had to go to the record store immediately to cop some new breaks to add to the stash…..

These dudes are not playing games when it comes to creating a thorough mix….Blends, scratches, and a insane amount of detail was put into this…….DO NOT SLEEP….

Props to DFL…

" Tuesday Sure Shots "

God damn, this new explosion by Roc Marciano is straight up ridiculous…And I have to give a pat on the back to “Vanderslice”, for providing a top-notch, menacing backdrop for Roc to tear to shreds..

Turn the volume to ten, and let the madness begin….

" Z’s Up "

This sounds like the right idea….We can’t rely on anybody but ourselves to keep the funk alive….

Peace to my Z comrade “Sen Onerz” in Brooklyn…

" Under The Radar Rockets: O.C. Edition "

“After debuting on Organized Konfusion’s “Fudge Pudge” single, O.C. started traveling with O.K. when they did shows. It was on The Source Magazine College tour in 1993 when O.C. first met Buckwild, who was deejaying for fellow tour act Lord Finesse at the time. A creative union was formed and when O.C. was signed to MC Serch’s Serchlite production company, they started working on a demo… No Sleep Recordings is proud to present tracks off of that demo; six previously unreleased songs and a rare promo that was done for legendary NYC radio personalities, Stretch and Bobbito. Buckwild himself produced three of these tracks and there is also production from Mark Pearson and DJ Eclipse (from Non-Phixion fame). It is also from these early sessions that the Hip-Hop classic “Word Life” originated”…

" 2010: The Year Of The Thirsty Blogger "

When you come to Hip Hop Battlefield-you can rest assured that I’m only going to post up shit that I have a personal appreciation for….It’s real simple famz, If I am not feeling it, I won’t give it any burn…

I have noticed that some blogs have totally switched up their whole agenda…..Instead of sticking to the script, they have opted to post up ANYTHING without any Hip Hop discretion….Shame on you…..HAHA….

Enough of the chastising, time to drop a gem on you…

Hopefully when Prodigy gets home from his bid, Mobb Deep can form back up and hit us off with that official heat…..Regardless of some of the misteps they have made during their run, they will definitely go down in the books as one of the greasiest groups in history….

" Burn Your Face Off , Killa Kebz Version"

Last weekend I ran into a friend of mine that I haven’t seen in years, my dude Big Kebz (ICP/GM5)……

When it comes to Graff, he is a straight up monster…..Instead of running his mouth, and flapping his lips like he has something to prove, he let’s his artwork speak for itself….

That’s why I give him his proper respect……..Big up to you Kebz-Oner for inspiring me to stick to my GUNZ, and putting me up on crazy break beat tapes when these clowns didn’t even have a fucking clue…..

" O.S.T. Madness Mixtape "

Here is a little diggers secret for all you beat nerds out there…..

If you are looking to sprinkle a little drama on your beats, the best place to look would be an O.S.T………Movie soundtracks usually contain the whole spectrum of human emotion, to match up with the visuals of that particular motion picture…

Over the years I have made some crazy beats from these often overlooked, sources of musical mayhem…..Peep this mix by Ian Head that only rocks soundtracks…..

” Good soundtracks create great atmosphere and feeling, and help tell the story or embellish a character or situation. Hopefully these selections give off some of that, whether or not you recognize them or know the movie they’re attached to.

As a bonus, I did a short second mix of some of my favorite movie-associated hip-hop records. Nothing super rare on there, just classic joints I still love to play today.

No tracklisting this month. Quincy Jones is a genius, go check out his catalogue.”

" More Loops For The Troops "

I’m the type of cat that could listen to the same loop all day (If it’s fresh enough)……

Most people have a short attention span, making it hard for them to appreciate the fine art of sonic repetition…..I came across an interesting body of straight loops on the “Strictly Beats ” blog, by these dudes that call themselves “Rednose District”…..

Dope….Take a listen ..

LOOPNOSE DISTRIKT VOL.1 by Aardvarck & StevendePeven. by Rednose Distrikt

" S.F. Wreck "

When dudes try to run up on me with that ,”Hip Hop Is Dead” talk, I just shake my head in disbelief……ARE YOU SERIOUS ?

Instead of complaining while watching MTV Jams, go out and seek Hip Hop shit……Believe me, Hip Hop is alive and well, you just can’t expect it to fall in your lap……Some cats are just straight up lazy, or they refuse to support because they view everyone as competition…

Even though I rhyme, make beats, and manhandle the turntables- I’m still a fan of this shit and I try to support certain functions when I get the chance…

This past weekend I ventured out to the “Classic” graff sessions in S.F.

WOW- dudes are not playing in 2010 & if you are not on your “A-Game”, you will get swept under the rug real quick !!!!!!!!!

* Me & the crew cold lamping with the Lee jackets on full blast mode….

Salute to my dudes who always GET BIZ: State, Planet, Refa, Kufu, Sha, Manny, S.F. Zulus, Kebz (Good to see you bro), Wavez, Spec, TMC, Cray-One, Big Mark, Fooderz, Bas-One (Killing em son), and every artist that contributed…..

Here are a couple flicks for your viewing pleasure……

Peace-

" Herbie Hancock Interview "

So I guess the brand new Hip Hop week is officially over….

No need for alarm though troop- Hip Hop Battlefield covers Hip Hop past, present, and future, so expect to see some new joints sprinkled in throughout the week….

Red Bull Music Academy recently sat down to chat with Mr. Herbie Hancock….

DON’T SLEEP..

” Learn about Herbie Hancock through this career retrospective interview as he speaks on his origins of music from childhood which instilled his drive to pursue a career as a musician under the early influence of Miles Davis, one of his biggest inspirations.”

" Funk What Ya Heard On The Mix "

Yesterday my homeboy from FUNKWHATYAHEARD (Planet), decided to hop on the decks and record a quick one track mix….No plan, no mistakes allowed, and definitely no nonsense….

He didn’t give me a playlist, but you already know how he gets down so don’t trip……Newness, under the radar rockets, and even a little rude-boy shit gets thrown in the mix…..

So quit stalling and do the right thing JACK !!!!

" Under The Radar Rockets: Guru Edition, Part 2 "

Before I even get started I have to say R.I.P. to Guru…….The world seems like a different place ever since he passed away….Sure there were plenty benefit shows and all that, but it seems as if us fans are left waiting patiently to hear more music from the vaults.

Earlier this year D.J. Lord Ron (UZN) put out this cut ,”Propaganda” with Guru on the vocals…..LISTEN UP…

And while your at it-go peep “LR’s” newest offering, the “Enviromental Shape Sounds of Lord Ron”…….It’s packed with plenty head nodders…

" For All The Wu- Headz, Part 10 "

Wu Tang Swordsmen, “Masta Killa” has a new album dropping in October of 2010….This song “Noodles Part 2” should hold you over until that comes out…

I also have to mention that “M.K.” is behind the boards for this one…..Enjoy..
