" 88 Mindstate "

Back in 1988 I was a twelve year old kid obsessed with Hip Hop………

I already had my own pair of turntables and a crummy radio shack Realistic mixer that I would abuse on the regular…..The needles would skip around crazy, so I would put a nickel on top of the needles to try to prevent them from jumping around while I tried to copy the latest Joe Cooley scratch….

It seemed like everything popped off crazy in 1988……N.W.A., T-La Rock, Mantronix was still crushing shit, Fat Boys were still trying to hang on, Super Lover Cee & Casanova Rud, G Rap, Steady B, Stetsasonic, and many others made 1988 a year that is forever embedded in my Hip Hop rolodex….

Twenty two years later I am still obsessed with Hip Hop, while many of my comrades from those days completely fell the fuck off….SAD……Anyway those cats from Global Funk Radio (UK) rocked a radio show featuring all 88 cuts…Over an hour of crazy drum programming, yelling on the mic, abrasive scratches, and all that other 88 shit…….

Do yourself a favor and hop into this classic Hip Hop time machine homeboy……..

" Grimy Garments "

Sure the Run DMC logo has been flipped a million ways, but this one by Dolo Clothing has my name written all over it……Simple, funny, and effective all at the same time….

" Preemo 2010 "

Awwwww yeah….

The D.J. Premier “Get Used To Us” compilation is dropping today……And for all of you still freaking the wax like myself, the double vinyl is popping off on January 2011 (FRESH)…

Here is a little album preview action……

" A.G. Thriller 2 Mixtape "

I usually do not post anything up without giving it a proper listen, but since I am such a huge D.I.T.C. head I will give A.G. a pass and give his new mixtape some shines….

By the looks of the cover and the title- we should be in for a nice batch of hardcore shit (Hopefully)……Give it a listen and I will do the same…….Big shout out to my dude “Hektek” out there in the Boogie Down Bronx…

" Beat Tape Shit "

You wouldn’t believe how many beat tapes I had to go through before I found one that was worthy of HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD status…..Some of these so-called beat tapes are just good sleep aids…..

For real, I caught myself snoring while attempting to decipher why and the fuck someone would put out such lackluster, boring production ?….I don’t ask for much: Decent drums, a sense of composition, and a couple fresh samples…It’s not rocket science, I will even settle for an explosive two-bar loop…..

This beat tape by Jaekim (Green Grits) rocks all Al Green chops…..Not a new concept since A.Z. came out with a remix album heavy on the Al Green samples a couple years back, (Memphis Tapes)….

Anyway, Jaekim definitely does his thing on this……Everyone needs more Reverend Al Green in their life, don’t you agree ?

DO NOT SLEEP……..

* The above pic is hilarious…HAHAHAHA.

" Blog Shots 43 "

Today I stumbled on a blog by General Steele of “Smith And Wesson”………It’s broken down into ten parts: Business, Cooking, Health, Hip Hop, News, New Music, Conspiracies, Film, Entertainment, and Comedy…

When you head over there, tell him that grimy kid from HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD sent you homeboy….

" Nubian Crackers Interview "

2011 is almost here people…..Another year has come and gone in a blink of an eye….I’m not the type of dude that is into New Year’s Resolutions or any of that bullshit…

I’m also not into end of the year wrap up’s either …….So you will not see any best of 2010 hoopla popping off over here….Instead, what you will see is me doing the exact same thing that I have done on HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD for the last three years….

Mixes, under the radar action, my own remixes, turntable abuse, breaks, grimy Hip Hop , Battlefield Funk Radio, comedy, insight, graff, podcast, and all that other fly shit…….

Speaking of fly shit: check out this interview with one-half of the infamous Nubian Crackers crew, “Undercover Brother” that was conducted by 7L on the fresh Bladerunners Blog…..

If you don’t have any Nubian Crackers in your crates,SHAME ON YOU !!

” I am still making beats, looking for beats.. I got like records everywhere. I haven’t used my stove in years! If a chick comes over she’s like “where am I supposed to sit” I am like “I don’t care just don’t touch my records”(laughs)… I used to buy 4 copies of everything… 2 to DJ with, 2 to keep sealed. I got boxes and boxes of sealed rap shit. I am big Dre Fan, so like the first Chronic and Snoop album, I got like 30 of each, first pressing…Kid Dynamite album…. at least 50… I remember when me and Kenny were in Portland and I saw that First Base lp by Babe Ruth (with “The Mexican”) for $1… I was “like yo Kenny they got Babe Ruth for a dollar” and He was like “yeah but u already got like 10 of those”… I ended up buying every copy they had that day…. I mean I got 4, 5 thousand records I haven’t even listened to yet! I edit records all the time, I had done this big Bob James project, but it never got released. I am always busy doing something with music and don’t see it slowing down! ”

" For Those That Like To Groove, Part 12 "

Every time I check out Groove Merchant (S.F.) I can’t believe how many gems they have in such a small store…..Under the radar Hip Hop, heavy breaks, soundtracks, reggae, international grooves, it’s amazing how much fire power they are holding….

With record stores closing all over the country, it’s beautiful to see this bay area institution still holding down the fort……

To celebrate it’s twentieth anniversary, they released a compilation with the “Luv N Haight” label to showcase some flavorful tunes….

FRESH……..And for all you beat nerds out there, you better pay close attention…..HAHA.

At one point in time I seriously thought about getting Serius/ XM just to hear Preemo’s show every week….Eventually links started floating around, so now there is absolutely no incentive to go out and get a membership, except to hear Bambaataa’s show on there….I could care less about Howard Stern’s show and all that other shit….

This is the latest broadcast of Live From HQ……You already know how “P” does his thing, so there is absolutely no need to try and describe it for you homeboy…….
