" For Those That Like To Groove, Part 14 "

Look out weekend, here I come……

A couple weeks ago the crew and I decided to venture out from the headquarters here in Vietnam, California and head up to Portland, Oregon for a little digging mission……To my surprise I ended up at a few quality spots and found some heat….

For instance, “Brazil Bossa Beat” will bring some sunshine into your life….Turn the volume to ten, grab an ice cold beverage, turn on your oscillating fan, and brace yourself for more steam….

Big up to Grim Rock, DJ Void, 45th Parallel Zulu’s, Motown Ray, Einstein, Zelly Rocker, Nam, and the Back Em Down Boyz for a memorable trip…

" Hip Hop Battlefield Goes To Soldier Field, Part 9 "

When most cats think of All Natural, their classic song “50 Years” usually comes to mind…..But they have consistently dropped impressive cuts for the last 15 years that deserve your attention as well…..

Tomorrow night you can catch the debut of their documentary “50 Years” (directed by Konee Rok) if you live in the Chi-Town area……

Peep the trailer cousin………

Big up to All Natural INC for keeping me in the know….

" More Mixtape Pressure "

Double K (People Under The Stairs) hops behind the turntables for a round of head nodders on this interesting mix, “I Hope Ya’ll Got Your Sunglasses On”….If your in the mood for a Hip Hop morale boost- do the right thing trooper…

“Dug out of the crates and newly remastered, Double K’s classic mixtape of rap music and whatnot, all spun off of original vinyl for your pleasure”.

" Breakbeat Chaos "

It’s somewhat funny when one of my peeps spot me on the avenue and ask, “What are you listening to these days?” or one of my personal favorites, “I can’t find any fresh Hip Hop to listen to, where do you find the gems?”….HAHA…

My reply to both of those wobble-headed questions is- “Check out Hip Hop Battlefield or Funk What Ya Heard or any other ill blog out there like BLAH BLAH, BLAH “…..

During the pre-internet era I was real secretive about where I was getting the goods……I would even remove the labels of certain records so fools couldn’t spy on my shit…..SERIOUSLY….Now I’m less ninja about it and I have no problem sharing information, music, history with anyone that truly cares to listen…..

Anyway, I’m quite sure the HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD POSSE will enjoy this episode of the Super B-Beat Show (Mane One-Son Of Jarel)..Over an hour of heavy breaks, jokes, and the hilarious “Ten Things We Hate” segment…….

Take A listen………..Big up to all my W.S.T fam and all the San Diego Zulu’s getting it in………

" Download Material "

And while your at it, do yourself a favor and snatch up some of the ill podcast from the “PTC” crew…….Past interviews with Baby Bam, King Sun, Mark Luv, Poetess, and others….

" SP-1200 Science "

When it comes to rocking crunchy drums the SP1200 is king…..I currently man handle an MPC, but I would love to add an SP to the arsenal one day just for its drum possibilities…

It just has a certain metallic sound that I can identify as soon as I hear it….

Anyway P-Body (Kick Drum Products) went the extra mile and assembled a book based solely on this classic piece of Hip Hop machinery……FRESH….

I’m in the process of ordering my copy right now……..If you want to cop one yourself..

There are no excuses- all of the blueprints have been laid out by phenomenal producers over the years….

I recently peeped this beat tape by a cat by named, 86’D (The Out Of Here Beat Tape)……..Heard a couple things that caught my attention….

" Respect My Zone "

Dr.Dre, Tony G, Joe Cooley, Alladin, M-Walk, Hen- G, Julio G and motherfuckin Tony A…….Yeah, the D.J.’s for KDAY’s classic mixmaster era…….I remember vividly holding a metal clothes hanger where my antennae used to be on my boom box- and trying desperately to get a signal so I could record these insane four-track mixes they used to rock…

And just for all the HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD faithful, I’m going to share a portion of my youth with you by hitting ya’ll with this 1988 “Tony A” Rodium mega mix explosion….

AWWWW shit……..Even with minimal tools, dudes were truly ahead of their time…….Take a listen to this mix and I’m sure you will agree…..

" Beautiful Killing Machine "

Fat Jon The Ample Soul Physician is somewhat of an enigma to me……He has released plenty solo instrumental albums, dropped heat with his group “5 Deez”, but I haven’t seen too many interviews with him floating around, so I don’t have any idea of what makes him tick….

Sometimes you just have to let the music speak for itself I guess…

Back in 2009 he collaborated with fellow 5 Deez repper, “Sonic Brown” for the instrumental project “Beautiful Killing Machine”…..Nice stuff…..Down tempo vibes over rugged, cracking drum programming……

“Live & Let Lie”

" Saturday Night Rockets "

K-Def mans the turntables on this mix showcasing some of his finest production moments (K-Def Anthology Mix)…….If your looking for a little firepower for your Saturday night pop off- you just found it JACK.

Over an hour of that real live goodness….

" Vocabulary Spill, Part 2 "

Sometimes I think motherfuckers are stuck in a bad Twilight Zone episode…..SERIOUSLY…..Earlier today I was maxing in the yard minding my own business, and out of nowhere I end up running into one of those “walking resume” rap dudes…..You know what I’m talking about…….The type of dude that spends the majority of their time steady yelling in peoples faces about how they are really getting it in…..

YAWN……..You remember that song on L.L. Cool J’s first album “That’s A Lie” ?….Yeah fam it was like that, but ten times worse….”I’m The CEO of Blah, Blah”……”I own the publishing on all of my artist”………” I came out to Cali from the east coast to cop these good trees”…….

I usually avoid these types like the plague, but I was watching my dude from FUNKWHATYAHEARD finish his piece and this motor mouth kept buzzing around…Next thing you know he starts rhyming…..

This is where the real trouble begins……

1. He attempts to rhyme, but in the background my dude is blasting some KRS One shit- so I tell dude to knock it off….”Why are you trying to rhyme over KRS’s vocals”?…….

2..He eagerly waits for the song to finish so he can start his talent show routine, accapella…..Dude starts rhyming all that crazy crime boss, fraud shit……..You know what I’m talking about……..A whole little tirade about his brand new Range, excessive gun play, and all that other A- Team shit………(I don’t mind hearing about all the drama, but his aura didn’t match up with what he was yelling…FEEL ME)…..

3..While he is rhyming he keeps staring me in the face like I’m some judge at a battle or something…..I actually pivot in a different direction and start daydreaming about wrapping my fingers around his neck just to stop all the noise pollution….,SERIOUSLY……

4..After he notices that I’m not having it, he keeps rhyming……Yeah, one of those weird new age cats that are long winded like a motherfucker…….

AHHHHHHHHH……..Please don’t get it twisted though….I’m not one of those bitter brothers that disses anyone and everyone just for the sake of hatred……If someone is nice at what they do-I’m the first one to give you a dap or a salute…….I actually really enjoy to see people master their craft and radiate creativity…..

But some of these clowns are just opportunist cornballs that need to stop all the fuckery………..CLOWNS….

The morale of the story kids : GET YOUR GOD DAMN BARS UP AND QUIT BEING THIRSTY !!!!!!!!

" Raekwon Tour Dates "

Everyone’s favorite chef has been hitting the road extra hard lately…..If he happens to be in your neck of the woods I highly recommend that you check in….
