” M.F. Grimm Week, #2 “
” My fault, I’m not trying to build fear / plus your crew knows your a loser, because your niggas ain’t even here “…..
This clip of GRIMM ripping the mic to shreds is labeled as Mr.C. freestyle, but I heard Bobitto yelling in the background so I personally believe this is from 89 tech nine with Stretch…
” The Return Of M.F. Grimm Week ”
Since Grimm’s newest album “GOOD MORNING VIETNAM” will be dropping in less than two weeks, (December,16th) it’s only right that I rock another M.F.GRIMM week on Hip Hop Battlefield….One of the things that makes GRIMM stand out amongst a sea of non-descriptive MC’s is the “quotable factor”…
Too many MC’s waste their breath when they rhyme for the sake of riddling (like Chuck D once stated)…Sure these cats fill their bars with all types of wordplay, but do their lines have poetic value ?
After listening to the song do you remember any proverbs, or any ill one-liners ? Unfortunately we are living in a era where mediocre rap cats receive all types of accolades for mediocre bars…
Grimm’s catalogue is flooded with quotable jewelry……
1.. “Day by day drama / cats dream about gatting the Manhattan Dalai Lama”……”BREAK EM OFF”.
2.. “Aim for your head because you don’t wear a vest there / bullet makes a window, your brain needed fresh air”………”EMOTIONS”.
3..“Emergency state, in my head I hear voices / some agree with me, some scold my choices”…..”TICK,TICK 2”.
4.. “New school rappers fail / they rhyme about crack sales and shootouts, but all that shit is duck tales”……….”TICK,TICK 2”.
5..“Tech nine dreams and mac eleven wishes / infra-red beaming on the target making sure their is no misses”…….”DO IT FOR THE KIDZ”.
6.. “I’m not afraid to die / but right now I’m afraid to live”…..”SCARS AND MEMORIES”……
7.. “New York is hot under the collar / it’s so easy to die, but it’s hard to make a dollar”……….”DEDICATED”.
8.. “Pitiful punks on my shit list / drop the S, now shit means hitlist”……….”KING OF NEW YORK”…
9.. “Fuck what ya heard, crime pays / for always, unorthodox I hold my pistol sideways”………”TAKE EM TO WAR”.
I could literally rock GRIMM bars for weeks, matter of fact I am currently in the process of trying to convince him to release a quotable – type book (maybe that will help some of these lames get their shit together HAHA)……..
Stay tuned on the BATTLEFIELD this week folks, I have plenty GRIMM material to unload (including a interview on Friday)…

” Season Of the Vic, Part 2 “
I’m finally back from my time in Chicago and the battery is fully charged up….It feels good to be back in Vietnam, California but I was unhappy to find that my car was broken into while I was away (THAT’S THREE TIMES IN 2012 – CREEPS ARE WATCHING)…..
During this time of year cats are extra thirsty for a come-up, so watch your motherfucking back because ANYONE can get victimized out here, even Mr. Hip Hop Battlefield…
Anyway, I’m back on my “ONE, TWO” like a heavyweight champ so it’s going to be extra flavorful over here…..While I was in the windy city I did some heavy digging….
This place is just out of control….If your one of those lazy types that look for an extra clean digging experience – don't even bother…
You gotta get dirty when you come to this spot, but it is well worth it if you know what your looking for – just keep your eyes peeled cause you could "GET IT" over there if your snoozing………..
I caught some nasty under the radar records at this spot – Boostin Kev, King Sun, 24/7, Danger Zone Mobb Squad, DJ Crucial, and all types of other shit…..I almost felt guilty that I was finding so many top notch gems……TWO THUMBS UP…
Another jewel of a record store……This place was holding a little bit of everything : ill rock records, Hip Hop, Jazz, but the prices were a little jive in my opinion…..Regardless, I did some real damage up in that piece…..
Of course I ransacked other records shops, Good Will’s, Salvation Armies and all that but I will keep that info to myself…..Chicago is an exciting city with a rich musical heritage – it seems as if record stores are opening up out there instead of closing like here in California…
If your on the hunt for more vinyl to add to the stacks, I highly recommend that you head out there to go for yours…

Fat Lace Spodcast # 5 should put you in the right frame of mind…..Under the radar cuts, Hip Hop history, all types of comedy, etc..

” Blog Shots, #62 “
Mr.Hip Hop Battlefield isn’t stingy with the jewels….
Every once in awhile I will shoot you in the direction of another blog that is holding the goods….”DUSTY SHELF” is just ridiculous when it comes to library records, musical education, etc…
” Karriem Riggins On The Beat “
Last year I caught a show with Karriem Riggins & Pete Rock in Oakland…
I didn’t know what to expect, but my Hip Hop antennae instantly activated when the duo let off a barrage of nonstop atmospheric productions….It seemed as if the crowd was in a deep trance, so much so that I personally witnessed a couple cats staring at the stage with their jaws wide open..
Anyway, Karriem recently popped up on the Soul Assassin radio show to showcase some instrumental treats….It takes awhile for things to start cooking, but once it does it’s an action packed listening experience..
