” Manipulator : Jazz Is Everything “
DJ & Producer MANIPULATOR from Massachusetts has been making a name for himself for several years at this point…When it comes to production he is solid, but he also finesses the decks with skills and discipline…On the “Jazz Is Everything” mix brings all types of flavors into the equation…
PEEP-
“With his expertly crafted and all-vinyl new mix, Massachusetts-based deejay/producer DJ Manipulator shows love to the genre that birthed Hip-Hop as we know it. ‘Jazz Is Everything’ is thirty music-packed minutes of Jazz cuts that later served as the inspiration (and backbone) of a bevy of classic rap joints.
From start to finish, Manip uses ‘Jazz Is Everything’ to drive home the point that Jazz is indeed damn-near everything. That’s because all of the material on here have been sampled in one way or another (and often multiple times) to create the instrumentals of so many beloved songs. And those songs run the gamut from De La Soul’s “Stakes Is High,” to Method Man & Redman’s “Maaad Crew,” to Gang Starr’s “ALONGWAYTOGO.”
” Kid Capri vs Funkmaster Flex “
When I first caught wind of some type of friction between KID CAPRI & FUNKMASTER FLEX, just like many of you I barely paid any attention and kept it moving..
WHY ?
Even though I have respect for both on some type of level – I feel they strayed far from the original recipe and got caught up in the hype aspect of the art form instead of the skill trade side of the things…Shit got too commercial with them…Things got extremely corny and predictable for me…So a so-called battle between the two of them appeared as entertaining as a lengthy root canal procedure…
I changed my opinion quickly though when I caught this clip yesterday of KID CAPRI setting off a preemptive strike against the notorious loud mouth Funk Flex….Instead of going the expected glossy route – the BX legend let off a full clip of strictly breaks all the while calling FLEX out and hitting him with all types of taunts, disses, and over the top verbal abuse….Sure CAPRI uses Serato (This would have been way iller if he kept it traditional with the breaks and freaked vinyl) but I can’t front, this is the type of energy that made me appreciate him in the first place….
Seriously doubt FLEX will enter the ring after catching wind of this..
” Agallah 2018 “
Gotta give that kid AGALLAH credit for maintaining in the music world for this long…Matter of fact, I believe he is now just fully hitting his stride..On his newest project “No Mercy For The Weak” he builds momentum over self produced tracks that are worthy of adding into your rotation..
PEEP-
” Drop A Gem : Bumpy Knuckles “
Once again I was summoned by those DROP A GEM dudes out in Queens NYC to sit in on this very thorough, two hour interview with the boulevard bully, Mr. BUMPY KNUCKLES…He goes into vivid detail about his past, present, and future…Many gems get dropped, many will even come to a surprise to his die-hard fans…DONT SLEEP!!
Salute to LEO & SPEAK NO EVIL for including me in the festivities..
” Casablanca : Baggage Claim “
CASABLANCA continues to impress with his unpredictable, 5% laced wordplay on his newest offering “Baggage Claim” with production by CHAPTER 19…
” Funky Soul Brother Mix “
Awwwwww, I’m finally back after I nice vacation…It’s always refreshing to recalibrate and recharge your batteries in order to handle current affairs properly….To set shit off it’s only right that I post this brand spanking new mix by that dude DJ KOKO & SOUTHPAW CHOP “Funky Soul Brother” – do the right thing and catch a groove…
” Stem YNN Heat “
When it comes to dedication to the craft, styles, uniqueness and knowledge- STEM YNN is a straight up monster…Not only can he rock fresh letters, his characters are very flavorful and expressive..The elusive writer who doesn’t get mentioned as much as he should was a recent guest on the “BEEN THERE-ROCKED THAT” podcast with Prance Lo, Polo Pirata, Ste Lo and Robbie Fingers…You will also spot interviews with El The Sensai, Rack Lo, Sadat X and a gang of other dudes..
” Strictly MFGRIMM Steez “
HAPPY BORNDAY to the master strategist, the grim reaper, Jet Jaguar, Percy Carey, my cuzzo MFGRIMM….Awhile back I assembled a strictly GRIMM mix that is flooded with all types of jewelry….So do the right thing and pay homage to one of Manhattan’s finest trooper….
” Dj Koko : Hydra Mix “
One of Japan’s most nastiest DJ’s “KOKO” mans the decks on this strictly Hydra Records mix…..You know the motherfucking drill..
Big up to LTBB..

” Rest In Paint “
It’s unfortunate that our comrade PRIZE 6 is not here in the physical…
As I sit here and reminisce on his Bornday, I can’t help but feel that not only my team got robbed, but I feel that the world at large got robbed because he was truly a gifted artist, father, and overall good person that was headed for huge things…Unfortunately the heartless killers that took him from us have not been brought to justice and they are roaming free in the world while we are left to pick up the pieces…
Life has a funny way of dealing with scum that do not truly know the definition of repercussions and consequences…One day they will have to answer for their deeds…In the meantime I’m going to put some good energy into the universe and send out a prayer for his family….We miss you young lord and we will honor you by staying on our path…
RIP.
PRIZE was a force to be reckoned with when it came to those cans….Click on the photos to fully analyze the wreck, my dude was far from a slouch…
