" Gensu Dean On The Remix "
What do you get when you combine CL Smooth on the mic & Gensu Dean on the remix tip ?
FRESHNESS….
Every single beat on here is solid, but “Unplugged”, “Stroll”, and “Smoke In The Air” really caught my attention….Gensu rocks the SP 1200 and he has managed to flip the limited sample time and get really colorful with his production techniques…
Hopefully one day these two will collaborate and knock out a full album……

" Milkcrate Jewels 33 "
While diggin through my crates I stumbled onto a record that I haven’t listened to in awhile….
DJ Sat-One featuring Baby Black & Outerspace “Dangerzone”…..
I remember when Soul Spazm Records sent me doubles of this hot slab of wax in the early 2000’s when I had a radio show in Sacramento, California (Roughneck Radio)……Even though the rhyming is decent on this single, what stuck out most in my opinion was the fresh production by Philly’s own, “Sat One”..
A floating xylophone loop, horn stabs, heavy drums, and even a couple scratch sentences towards the end of the song = WIN….I could never figure out why this record didn’t get much burn on the mixtape circuit at the time…
Do the right thing and check in……
" Mid Week Rockets "
You never know when I’m going to strike on the BATTLEFIELD……Sometimes I might post three or four a day, other times I will fall back until something in my collection jumps out at me…
Regardless, I promise to turn the heat up a notch because I’m feeling good, the sun is out, the record stacks keep getting chubbier, and most importantly more people are scoping out the BATTLEFIELD than ever……It’s been almost four years since I decided to start this blog and I do not plan on stopping….
Why ?
Because this is not work for me…..It’s more of a Hip Hop experiment to see if cats are still checkin for certain things out there…To my surprise, without having to set up a Twitter account or a Facebook page, or even without promoting the blog whatsoever – people still miraculously find HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD……
This mix by KoKo (With The Dope Sound) is perfect theme music for starting trouble……Turn your system up a bit and let’s get into this trooper…..

" On The Road Again "
Since I’m heading to the beautiful city of Vancouver, British Columbia next week, it’s only fitting that I pull out some material from those dudes up north….
Back in the 80’s the first Hip Hop shit I heard from Canada was Fresh Wes, Dream Warriors, and Michee Mee…….Over the years groups like “Down To Earth”, “Checkmate”, “Saukrates”, and “Black Eye” have impressed me with their approach to the artform….Matter of fact Black Eye (R.I.P.) had a couple songs from the 90’s era that still remain in my rotation to this day….
For some reason most cats in the States are oblivious to what is going on up there…..Believe me, there is more going on than that cornball Drake/ Drizzy or whatever the fuck he calls himself…….When I was there last year I couldn’t believe how many record stores, sneaker boutiques, and clubs they had downtown…..So I’m headed back for another round of Hip Hop holiday activities…..
I noticed that I have quite a few Canadian cats peeping the BATTLEFIELD……If you know of some things poppin off between June 22-27th, let me know what’s happening….
Anyway, scoop up this mix by Filthy Rich (Norther Touch)…….Nice selections, blends, etc….

The blastmaster still knows how to rock a show with the greatest of ease….Nonstop classic gems, mic control, stamina, and crowd interaction from a true veteran in this Hip Hop shit…..
Even though his last couple albums could have been more explosive, KRS is still THAT dude regardless of what your average cornball has to say about the man…
Big shout out to Planet, State, Rashad, Kenz, Shyeer Allah, Viben, Sheik, Ethan, Wavez, YG, and everyone else for the laughs..Also I want to send a big shout out to that sucker that almost caught a bad one last night….You are so lucky, I’m not giving out anymore passes for the remainder of 2011…(YA HEARD)

" What’s Wrong With This Picture ? "
WHAT PART OF THE GAME IS THIS ?
Yeah, I know this movie is based on a book, but who the fuck cares…..
If you do not believe that there is something blatantly wrong with this type of imagery, I highly suggest that you get your mind right….
Is it the year 2011 or 1911 ?
" Sean Price – Heavyweights Mixtape "
Dj Corrado & Madzikila bless us with this mix that features all Sean Price material…..I was pleasantly surprised after giving this a little test run through the system…
Big shout out to everyone that checks in on the regular…
" Vulcan Speaks "
When it comes to writing, “Vulcan” is in a class by himself….
Crazy color schemes, original style, and a impromptu approach make his pieces stand out…..Shiiit, some of his joints from the 80’s slays a lot of the stuff I see toys trying to rock in 2011…SERIOUSLY…
While skydiving on the net I came across an interview with him by Josh Spear that will hold your attention….
" For Those That Like To Groove, Part 19 "
Earlier today I listened to the new album from Ocote Soul Sounds (Taurus)…..
Impressive flavors indeed…..Take a listen and catch a vibe if you know what’s best for you……
