This is a pic of me and some other Z’s, from a recent Bambaataa show…I must say, Bam destroyed the place….Dude is a true living legend, but he is so down to earth and humble…..Thanks Bam for another beautiful night of peace, unity, and definitely fun……More beats posted up in a minute, and rest of Selfish’s interview this weekend……..
When Llamas Attack part 3

4..{HHBF} What are some of your Hip Hop influences?
{Selfish}… The first shit that I really remember having a staying influence on me was shit like N.W.A., Public Enemy, Geto Boys. I would see a lot of that shit on M.T.V. Raps and the Box. I was into some of that shit cause older family members put me up on it. Honestly at that point, I was into all the cussing and crazy shit a dude like Eazy E would say. I remember I got good grades on my report card and got the “Humpty Dance” cassette single . A couple years later, it was a “Tribe Called Quest”, who were the main ones that had me buggin bout shit seriously.. then Wu-Tang, I’d say the RZA and Wu in general was the first thing that ever made me think about making music myself. It;s too much to list though. Iv’e been into all types of music all my life……….
The rest of the interview this weekend……….Sample of Selfish’s material posted below..
When Llamas Attack part 2
2..{HHBF}..What’s the word on the green Llama crew.. Members and how long have you been recording together?
{Selfish}..Green Llama at first consisted of myself {Selfish} mc-producer, and {Dekay} from Chicago, {Tone Liv} -mc from Jersey, {Fluent} -producer from Ohio, {Vincent Price}-producer from N.C. by way of Florida, {Butta Verses}-mc from Florida, and {Ill Don}-producer from Queens. We initially formed up after a period of getting to know each other online, and seeing if we were all on the same page as far as this Hip Hop goes. Since then we added mine and Dekay’s d.j., D.J. Monkey from Chicago, who also does beats, And the one and only {Dibiase}-producer-mc from Cali, who’s a beast on production. The name Green Llama came from Ill Don who had some old radio show. him and Fluent fucked around with the name and when the crew formed that was the name they called it. The rest of us kinda wondered where the shit came from, but it caught on and we ran with it. Since then we’ve flipped meanings and catch phrases, aliases, etc, off of the Llama name. The main thing being that a Llama is known to spit..Whether it be the animal or the firearm, and green symbolizes life and can as well be interpreted as money, whatever you want. Plus a few of us are weedheads, which shouldn’t be a suprise. It’s nothing to deep, but myself and some of the other Llamas always building on the meaning behind it, giving it new significance.. Sallama To The Llama’s..
3[HHBF}..Rubberroom used to be my favorite from Chicago until I heard ya’ll…Did you ever see them perform live before they disbanded?
{Selfish}…I was blessed with a few opportunities to see Rubberoom do their thing onstage years ago. They brought that heat, plus they they were creators of a very distinct sound. I just seen a couple of them dudes at a show recently. Lumba and S.P.O. some real cool cats. Rubberoom is definitely some of the most classic Chi Hip Hop you can find. Some of the hardest shit you will ever hear. I’d like to hear new stuff in any capacity, group or solo. A big influence on me, as well as many others in my circle… continued on Part 3
When Llamas Attack part 1
This is the interview I did with Selfish from the Green Llama crew….We spoke on a array of topics, from his Chicago roots, to the current state of Hip Hop production…..Go cop that Uncut Raw album, and Dekay’s Antique Black album………………
1.{HHBF}…I like the Uncut Raw album. It’s been on heavy rotation since I got it…..The song “Fortune Cookies” caught my attention…….You are dropping heavy jewels on this one……What’s your approach to crafting lyrics?
{Selfish}..I like the beat to speak to me initially and paint a picture in my head that I want to put into words. Obviously sometimes a sample might say something that gives that process a boost, which was slightly the case with “Fortune Cookies” because it had that ‘ reap what you sow dialogue in the beginning of the track and that was there before I even penned a verse. I’m not big on just writing on the spot most of the time. If it’s a collabo track i’m working on in the lab at the moment fucking around that’s cool, but if i’m sent some beats by a producer for a project, I like to let it marinate and give the full amount of energy I feel the track desrves. I’m all for spontaneous creativity, but album cuts for the most part, I like to think shit out a little before I put it into words. Occasionally though, I hear something and it all flows out instantaneously, so I will say it’s all about the creative energy the track gives me. All my verses for the most part are written specifically for the track they wind upon, based on the vibe I feel from the beat. Then from there I just fill in the blanks…

Industry rule 4080…..
This is a picture of Lil Wayne and Baby tongue kissing…….When I first seen this I just had to shake my head in disbelief….First of all I am not a Wayne fan, but I heard a large volume of his music over the years and I have come to the conclusion that there is some sort of conspiracy going on………..You don’t kiss other men on the mouth unless you are gay….I didn’t even kiss my dad on the cheek, barely my mother as a matter of fact……And for the record, I am far from homophobic.. I could give a fuck less what you do with your life…..Just don’t bother me, or beat me in the head with any bullshit…..Live and let live……..But the point being , Wayne fronts like some type of drugged up tough guy……And the public has built this bozo up so much, motherfuckers are running around saying he is the best to ever do it…….What?…..Get the fuck out of here……..Wayne’s career blew up as soon as these pictures were made public……Sure he was a public figure with Cash Money and all that, but he really blew when people found out he went both ways……..It’s no mystery that the majority of the recording industries biggest {players} are coked out homosexuals……Artist get rewards for participating in certain type of behaviors………Check out the book “Notes and Tones” by Art Taylor……This book was written in the 60’s. Art interviews great jazz figures in this book such as Charles Mingus, Art Blakey, Hampton Hawes, etc…….Homosexuality and rewards for recording artist who adopt this lifestyle is nothing new…It is common practice and brothers in this book actually state if they were gay they would have gotten more exposure…..Crazy………..And Wayne is also a {style thief}…..Peep Gillie the Kid’s catalogue for further analysis………….What do ya’ll think? Is Lil greazy really poppin? ……Is that a hardrock b boy swagger? Or is that a sweet feet swagger?
Chicago on the rise
Chicago is releasing some ill Hip Hop as of late..My homeboy {Planet} put me up an a album entitled Uncut raw, by Selfish {m.c.} and Fluent {producer}….I was suprised when I heard this…Loud, dusted samples flying from every direction….Lyrics drenched with meaning and finesse..Uncut Raw has been on constant rotation since I first heard it { rare these days }….This song is called “Fortune Cookies”, and it is fresh…..Check the proverbs in this song…..Interview with Selfish up in 48 hrs……….Peace to my dude Bad Santa, and JonJon from G.L.K.
1989 Hardcore Shit
This is Twin Hype in 1989……..The joint is called “Do it to the Crowd”……..When this initially came out it tore up dancefloors from coast to coast…Not since the King Shameek/X.L. Posse bumrush, has Hip Hop and House been fused with this much flavor….Damn this scorcher brings back mad memories…..St.Ides 40 ounces, house parties, random physical attacks, wild freestyle sessions, and fake truck jewels…….Interview with Selfish from Green llama in 48hrs……

Almighty Doo Wop

Recently I attended a Guru show { without Premier }……..Guru did his thing, I can’t even front but I wish he would of threw on some GangStar shit……..Who in the hell would attempt to fill Premier’s shoes? No other than Bounce Squad member, Diaz Brother, Mr 95 live himself …. Dooooo Wooooooop………He killed it on this night, doubles, cuts, and a wicked since of timing………On another note this is the first time I’ve seen Guru, and it was so surreal to me…….I am a huge Gangstar fan……Everyone yells about Preemo all the time, but Guru had his moments…………….Tonz Of Gunz, Credit is Due, The Planet, Above the Clouds, Dough in Advance, The Squeeze…..Let me stop now and just say, Guru was no slouch on the mic…..Gangstar was a duo, Preem didn’t do everything it was a group effort……………………Anyway, Big up to my Young Gunz…Gramz,Tariq,Shante, Big Head Ron…………………….Audio up 48 hrs……….
Rest In Peace Camu Tao
The first time I heard of Camu Tao was in 12’s wax in Sacramento……The “Hold the Floor”, single has a ill cover { above} so I decided to give it some burn on the decks. To be honest I didn’t like it that much, I even returned it for a Masai Bey single {Nonstop}…..But after a year or so went buy I went and copped it again and it grew, and grew on me…..Anyway I kept my eye on Camu and watched his talent blossom…..From “Nighthawks”, to his numerous cameos on Def Jux releases, his style kept getting crazier and crazier…..The song he did for Adult Swim “Plot for a little bit”, is a perfect example……..One of his newest offerings bears the title “Death where have you been all my life”?………….That shit gives me the chills…………..He died of lung cancer at 31, and that also gives me the chills……I didn’t know him personally, and I don’t know how he lived his life, but out of respect I have just ended my relationship with cigarettes……………..Check for Camu’s catalogue, Check for his Blair Cosby projects, Check for your love ones, Check for creative people, Check yourself……….RIP Camu, Dj Prizm, D.J. So What…………..Audio posting this weekend…………

What is a D.J. if he can’t scratch?
This is a pic of Egyptian Lover, that I took last year…A true pioneer in every sense of the word……He layed the blueprint for the west coast dj’s in 1983, so what happened? Dj’s today hop on stage dont blend any records, don’t scratch, don’t trick mix, don’t do anything halfway funky…..And still get paid and front like they are bringing something new to the table……Crazy…No one is blowing the whistle on this type of behavior…….And what’s up with all these dancehall dj’s that have never been to a dancehall in their god damn life……Suspect……Fake patois and pay to play dubplates, and a dash of sucker D.J. sauce, makes you a future victim…………When you see a D.J. and he is behind the decks dancing around, when no one on the dancefloor is, walk up to that dude and tell him to get the fuck outta dodge suckaaaaa……..
