" Wax Weaponz 20, Tony D Tribute Version "
After Tony D’s wife dropped me a line ( Peep the last comment section ) I decided to stop wasting time and dig in my crates to put a ” TD ” mix together….Since ” Wax Weaponz ” is only 30 minutes long I had to keep it short and flavorful….But you will hear a true diverse representation of ” TD ” selections…
This is all wax…No Serato, No editing tricks, No additives or preservatives….Just a one – take mix session, done by none other than ,” Mr. DRASAR MONUMENTAL “…In upcoming months I plan on seeing a bunch of ” TD ” flag wavers coming out of the wood work…That’s all fine and dandy, but have these same cats went out and bought his records ?….Did they support his movement from then to now ?
The bottom line is that ” TD ‘s ” music will never be forgotten…. My condolences go out to his friends and family. May he rest In peace….
" Rest In Peace Tony D "
By now you have probably heard about ” Tony D’s ” untimely passing…At just 42 years of age, ” Tony ” leaves behind a extensive catalogue packed with banging beats and that New Jeru grittiness….A true pioneer in many aspects, ” Tony’s ” fusion of Hip Hop and dancehall ( PRT, Almighty and K.D.Ranks, Blvd Mossie ) demonstrated how ahead of the curve he was…
Much respect goes out to you and your entire family…R.I.P.
Here is one of my favorite ” TD ” productions ( Scott Lark : Natural Bliss )..*Check for the ” TD ” mix I just did today *
The Trentonian newspaper just wrote a article about ” TD “…PEEP
" Edit Your Face "
I have a newfound respect for ” 7L ” after checking out this ( Bladerunners ) mix…In terms of execution it must have been a tedious project to handle, because it sounds very technical and intricate…You don’t hear many edit mixes anymore, and that’s what seperates this mix from the rest of the pack…The other half of the ” Bladerunners ” crew, ” The Razor ” goes straight psycho on the edits…( enought to make Steinski proud )..
Even though this is a very thorough mix, there are a couple misteps…” 7L ” sprinkles a dash of ” Hipster Sauce ” on the mix towards the end…( when you hear it you will know what I mean ) ..But all in all, this is a very solid effort that deserves some burn…Big up to those kids up in ” Beantown “….100
" Just Let The Beats Rock "
On this ” Rooftops E.P. ” you will hear a heavy dose of down-tempo grooves laced with booming, crunchy drums…Nothing too groundbreaking, but right in the pocket ( Sometimes less is more, take note all you 10 million sequence dudes )…
This is perfect theme music for Sunday night lamping sessions or 3 A.M. city cruising….The cat that produced this project’s name is ” Skipless “….I think he is on to something, so peep for yourself cousin…
" Sid Roams Instrumentals "
The production duo known as ” Sid Roams ” are on their GRIZZLY as of late…They have supplied beats to ” Prodigy “, Hardwhite “, ” A- Alikes “, ” Big Twinz “, ” Vordul Mega “, ” Evidence “, etc..Most of their joints fall in the ” Cold Hearted, Gangster Shoot Em Up ” category ( which isn’t a bad thing, if it’s done the right way HAHAH )…
In 2007 they put out a instrumental project that has it’s moments…These are my favorite cuts, ” Bringing That Heat ” and ” Sound Mission ” ..
" Paul Nice vs Sade "
For over 20 years ” Sade ” has churned out nothing but beautiful music….Instead of sacraficing her integrity and cashing out, she has opted to take the road less- travelled and dealt with the music industry on her own terms..( You gotta admire that )..
She has the uncanny ability to make even the hardest hardrocks melt underneath the weight of her voice..I have seen the grimiest of cats, start snapping their fingers and put on a happy face when one of her songs popped up on the jukebox…” Sade ” is in a zone all by herself, you can’t compare her to anyone before and after her…..Another crazy thing is that her core band has remained together for over two decades..( Almost unheard of in this day and age )
Salute to you ” Sade ” for being such a fucking beautiful enigma….A true class act ..
Once again ” Paul Nice ” graces the BATTLEFIELD with that old goodness….Quit wasting time and CHECK IN …..
" Style Warz 2009 "
Pose and Ewok x Ironlak x SuperVision. from Ironlak on Vimeo.
The music in the background is almost unbearable to listen to, but if you can get passed that and check out the hand styles, you will notice that ” Pose ” and ” Ewok ” aren’t playing fucking games….DAMN
" Mobb Deep : Safe Is Cracked "
This is best cut off of the ” Safe Is Cracked ” album….( The beat is straight gutter )…Free – P
" Get Your Fingers Dusty Kid "
Check out what ” Lord Finesse “,” O. C “, ” Diamond “, and ” Ogee ” had to say about sampling vs. keyboards, digging, and D.I.T.C.’s upcoming projects….
" Likwit Crew General "
” King T ” is in a class by himself…With the help of the underrated ” D.J. Pooh ” he crafted some very funky bangers…His first 3 albums are bonafied classic joints when it comes to this west coast Hip Hop shit…If the ” Likwit Crew ” ever decide to clique up and drop a album, I have a feeling it will cause much damage out there….
B.C’s ” J -Swing ” put together this mix of all ” King T ” cuts…30 minutes of flavor….CHECK IN..
" Hard To Kill Original Version "
If you thought the version of ” Hard To Kill ” on Show Biz And A.G. ‘s first album was raw, you should check out the demo version…Scratch sentences, numerous break changes, and a unheard A.G. verse makes this one a winner…
" Up North "
Since I am on the Vancouver tip this week, it’s only right that I post up one of B.C.’s finest, ” Checkmate “….I took a gamble on buying a couple of his records in 1999, and when I finally got a chance to check them out I was suprised to hear how ill ” Check ” was…..
He is still doing his thing in Canada, I actually saw a flyer with his name on it for a upcoming show…..( Too bad I couldn’t peep that out )…Anyway, salute to you ” Check ” for holding it down for quite sometime…Looking forward to hearing some 2009 tracks from you…100
