" As The Drum Beats Go Like This "
There are plenty drum breaks that have been rocked to death….The obvious ones would be, Funky Drummer, It’s A New Day, and of course the very classic, Synthetic Substitution break..
At the time when these breaks were very popular- I honestly didn’t mind hearing them flipped a million ways…To me that was one of the creative aspects of sampling ; if you chopped it this way, I was going to find another way to freak it that you never thought of type of thing..
Eventually sappy R & B groups started using these same drum breaks, that’s when I knew it was time to consider them ” off-limits ” (HAHA).
On this podcast from Oakland’s “Matthew Africa”, he unveils 47 tunes that use the Synthetic Substitution drums in some shape or form….You gotta love concept mixes !!!!!!

" Main Ingredient Radio Show "
One thing that I love about the internet is that now anyone, from anywhere, can broadcast their ideals to a worldwide audience without dealing with gatekeepers…In the past I have held down a couple radio show slots, but I always grew tired of dealing with the politics of what I could play, and what I could say…
Now with the Battlefield Funk Radio (U-Stream) I can say whatever the fuck I want..
Anyways, while searching around for new beats I ran across this broadcast from D.J. Cro (London)…A nice selection of joints for a Saturday evening..

" Hip Hop Battlefield Goes To Soldier Field, Part 5 "
Mr. Hip Hop Battlefield is headed to Chicago in a couple weeks to get my fingers dusty, check in with famz, and demolish a pizza or two..
I’m looking so forward to my trip that I decided to see what’s up with Chicago’s longest running Hip Hop radio show (Hip Hop Project-WLUW)…4 hours of nonstop blends…OH YEAH…..Most of the selections are flames, but at times the blends are a little shaky (You will see what I am talking about-especially after the 29 minute mark)…
Lookout Chicago here I come !!!!!!
" For Those That Like To Groove, Part 2 "
Summer is right around the corner folks…So it’s only right that I hit you off with some rare groove flames..”Back Street Brit Funk” was compiled by Joey Negro (Not feeling that name-even if he is black HAHAHA)…

" Prelude To A Funeral Mixtape "
Never heard of this cat “Rozewood” before…This mixtape is the warm-up before his album drops in June on Domination Records..
” Rozewood is the MC’s ultimate MC. Rozewood has been influenced by rhyme savvy mc’s such as MF Doom, Raekwon, Nas, Kool G rap, Wu-Tang Clan and many more of or favorite lyricists. His intellectual and sharp witty rhymes are easily executed in his deadly freestyle abilities. In fact, while attending Clark University in Atlanta, G.A. he battled Mos Def to a draw. The legendary story goes like this, one night Rozewood was at a local MC battle arena in the Atlanta area, where he happened to be the battle champion of the night. This same evening Mos Def was attending as a viewer in the audience. As the crowd erupted to Rozewood and his furious wordplay, they hyped up the room for Mos Def to jump on the stage against Rozewood. At the end of the night, the two left the crowd with a jaw dropping back and forth experience of fine emceeing “.
" New Hiero Shots "
To tell you the truth I’m not really into classic remakes….I didn’t really dig when “Snoop” went and re-did “La Di Da Di”….Even Scarface’s version of “Still #1” rubbed me the wrong way…
So when I recently spotted different groups adding their own twist to the El Michels Affair instrumentals, I kept it moving…
But now the Hiero camp are jumping into the mix…Ahhh, this is actually fresh right here (Nice surprise)…
" Hip Hop Battlefield Pick Of The Week "
The reason why you come to Hip Hop Battlefield is because you want that official heat, right ? You come over here when you get tired of hitting up blogs that post the exact same shit, right ? HAHAHAHA..
Well your in for a treat this evening JACK !!!
Graff legend “Lord Scotch” aka the artist behind the Operation Doomsday’s cover brings us this heavyweight mixtape (Sounds Collide)….
WOW- It starts off with plenty BK anthems that will make you want to pull out your burner and lick off a couple in the air….And then halfway into the mix it segues into some heavy rudeboy type heat…..
" Andre The Giant 2010 "
Here is some 2010 D.I.T.C. flavor for you to snatch up…Mr. A.G. pops back up on the set with this new cut, “Why Am I Still Here” which is a ode to Hip Hop’s fallen soldiers…
Give it a listen homeboy..
