" D.J. Akakabe Wreck "
I always wondered why Akakabe didn’t receive the proper recognition that he deserved in States…..His scratches were quick and on-point, transitions were ill, and his beat juggling patterns made my jaw drop when I first heard them on the 1997 DMC’s…..
SALUTE…..
In 2004 he finally won the DMC world championship and took the belt to Japan…..
Peep this footage of him at Club Bon Bon 06/ 22/ 06
" Fresh For 2010 "

BBP- Business Before Pleasure is a company out of the Bronx that will keep your closet looking extra dipped…….If you think I am playing, check out this nice “Renegades Of Funk” jacket that is bound to cause pandemonium on the avenue….
And this BDP flip /BBP jacket & hat is straight ridiculous…….CRAZY…
If your interested in lacing yourself up this Fall
" Killer Ben A.K.A. Ben Buford- Repost "
” Ben Buford ” is one of the nastiest M.C’ s on the west side of things….The first joint I heard from him was the “Exercise/Hitman 4 Hire” 12 inch which features menacing production from L.A’s own , “Truly Odd”…As far as west coast hardcore Hip Hop goes, this was a criminally slept on release….( Gun clap rap at it’s dirtiest )
In 2003 they teamed up again for ” Emcee Killer ” , it’s the type of joint that makes the perpetrators hit the panic button….You can hear it on ” D.J. Chorizo Funk’s ” mixtape (Which is very flavorful)…..
Here is the playlist..
1. Krs One – Get Yourself Up
2. Sean Price – Boom Bye Yeah
3. Ben Buford And Truly Odd feat. J Rocc – Emcee Killer
4. Krondon – Feels Good

" Daily Diggers vs. Hip Hop Battlefield AF1 Kick Off "
Troop’s, Fila, New Balance, Lotto’s, Elleese, BK’s, Clark’s, Diadora, Le Coq Sportif, Timbo’s, Reebok Pump’s, Sacony’s, Adidas, Pumas, and of course a crisp pair of Nike’s…..
I come from an era where if your shoes were busted than you had NO wins…….I can remember trying to go against the grain and decided to show up at the cypher with a pair of “Vans” just for the hell of it……..
WHEW…….Before I even got a word out of my mouth, I became the laughing stock of the area….HAHAHAHA….1989 was no joke….
From that day on I vowed to get revenge on all those fools who tried to clown, and spent a tremendous amount of time, cheese, and energy assembling a stockpile of kicks so ill that whenever I would pop up on the set– suckers would get the trembles…..
Fast forward to 2010: One of the sites that I check for on the regular is “Daily Diggers”…..It’s ran by an interesting cat by the name of Kid Dyno (London)…….What I like about his site is that you can tell that he is a authentic Hip Hop head…….Instead of following trends and being over eager to post up ANYTHING, he subscribes to the quality over quantity ethic (Like myself)……
So it’s only fitting that two like-minded individuals decided to clique up and get busy…………This Monday we are going head to head in our first official AF1 Kick-Off……….His best five, against my best five…….No corny bullshit-just fresh color schemes, explosive heat, and all that other fly shit…….
It’s going to be a doozy, so don’t get caught sleeping on Monday morning troop………
" Hip Hop Battlefield Remix Rockets "
O.K. folks it’s about that time again…….
You know what I’m talking about…..Another remix rocket from the captain of this Battlefield battleship homeboy…..I decided to give ya’ll a healthy dose of bass, snapping drums, and that extra special spice that is bound to raise your blood pressure levels…
The original version of Out The Box (produced by Pete Rock)-featured Tony Touch, Large Pro, Masta Ace, and P.R. on the vocals…
So turn your speakers to level ten, take a deep breath, and brace yourself for collision…..POW,POW….
All beats wrecked, sliced, flipped, mangled, chopped, manhandled, and stretched out by ME !!!!!!!!!
" Joint Of The Day- Rain Blood Edition "
When I first heard this song I almost started flipping out on everybody…..
“Rain Blood” features underrated Megalon on the mic totally smashing everything into shreds…….Not many M.C’s can ride a beat that sounds this chaotic….
This is the type of shit I can listen to on repeat all day with the greatest of ease……Produced by MF Doom…
And while your at it, scope out this rare interview with Megalon with U.Grap.De……..
Interesting read indeed…..
" Back To Burn, Part 2 "
Mr. Keith Murray is back with some more drama talk on this new joint “Venting”, produced by up and comer Ayden….It has been awhile since I have heard anything from this former L.O.D. & Def Squad repper….
Sounds like he is on fire again…..
Peep..
" J Live On the Decks "
“This is the latest installment of the mixtape series “First Things First”. Like the previous two, Volume 3 is a mix of quality hip hop, both old and new. All of the songs are the first real song on their respective albums. As always, “skits and interludes not included”. First Things First Vol 3 is both mixed and hosted by DJ J-Live, with assistance and guest drops from super producer J-Live, and emcee extraordinaire J-live “.
Damn …..J Live makes beats, spins, and is no slouch on the mic……Triple threat when it comes to this Hip Hop shit….
Check In trooper…..
" For Those That Like To Groove, Part 2 "
Berlin based D.J. Mr Phipson takes us on a voyage to the land of Brazil for this explosive podcast….If this doesn’t help jump start your afternoon, I don’t know what will…HAHA…
” Episode 5 presents you music containing elements of Capoeira and the afro-brazilian instrument Berimbau. A deep journey featuring tracks from Bossa and Samba Classics to Baile Funk and electronic breaks. Enter the Roda! This is a voyage into the cultural heritage of Brazil.”
" Crate Digging Madness "
There is no rush that matches the feeling that I get when I find a crazy drum break that hasn’t been rocked before….It could take weeks, or even months, but when I eventually find one- I instantly flashback to my childhood……Back then I was using the pause-tape method (More on that one day perhaps)….
Anyway, if your into crazy crate digging stories like Mr. HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD, than you will enjoy this BBC special by The Vinyl Hoover called “Beat Mining”…….He interviews 45 King, Steinski, Malcolm Mclaren ( January 22, 1946-April 8, 2010…RIP), Aaron Fuchs of Tuff City records, etc…..
Enough of the wordplay, you know the drill…..
" New Shit On Deck "
Raekwon the Chef cliques up with Bronze Nazareth for this cut entitled, “Thirsty Fish”…….Be on the lookout for Bronze’s new album “Children Of A Lesser God” dropping 10/26/10…..
Enjoy..
" Sir Jinx Speaks "
There was a period where it seemed as if Ice Cube’s “Lynch Mob” crew were poised to take shit completely over…..Kam, WC & Madd Circle, Jay-Dee, Shorty, Yo-Yo, & Sir Jinx’s production style were very influential…..
In my opinion one of Jinx’s brightest moments, was when he contributed production for G.Rap’s “Live & Let Die” album…….His sound was a mixture of Bomb Squad-esque layering, live instrumentation, and funky, well placed creative sampling techniques…
Go back and listen to that album again….You won’t be disappointed,it has managed to age very well…..
Hip Hop Dx recently caught up with Jinx to discuss: G.Rap, L.A. Riots, Tupac, and his current alias Tony Villa….HAHA..
Interesting read…
And just to keep you on your toes…..Here are a couple cuts by Jinx’s first crew “C.I.A.” which included K-Dee & Ice Cube……
1987 Killa Cali hardcore shit.

You know the drill…..Grab an ice cold beverage, crack the window a bit, strap on your helmet, and prepare for heavy turbulence……
