" New Shit On Deck "

2010 has been a prosperous year for former U.N. gang repper, Roc Marciano….Once again he nails a solid performance on the production tip as well as microphone duties…

Take a listen to this raw heater “Scarface” and get ready for more drama….

" King Medallions Vs. Arch Angel "

In my opinion this album right here (King Medallions Vs. Arch Angel) is the best album that Planet Asia has ever put out….Mainly because the beats by Architect (Homeliss Derelix) are just ridiculous….

It dropped in Japan in 2006, but I don’t think that it was ever released commercially in the United States….From beginning to end, these two blast off heavy doses of west coast hardcore without losing momentum……

Here are a couple cuts that will put you in the right frame of mind…..BLAM,BLAM….

“Supernova”

“Black Music”

" For Those That Like To Groove, Part 11 "

Wow, this record is just out of control…….

I could play this type of shit on repeat all day without a problem….You might have even heard some of your favorite producers chop up certain sounds from this joint….

So quit stalling holmes and scoop these up….

“24 Carat Black Theme”

“Ghetto, Misfortune’s Wealth”

" What’s Wrong With This Picture ? "

When I first started this blog three years ago, I was determined to blow the whistle on all the wack bullshit that was sorrounding me….I even had a column called “Sucka Of The Week” and I would pop blog shots at well deserving targets…..

But a wise man once told me “It’s easy to criticize people all day, but it would be more productive to spend your energy highlighting the things that motivate you and inspire you”……..So I decided to dead all the soapbox ranting and focus more on all the fly shit that I deal with on a constant basis……

Every once in awhile though, I will spot some shit that I have to speak on……POINT BLANK……Sometimes I feel like I am in the black “Twilight Zone”……..When I scoped out this album cover by Sheek Louch, my first reaction was to clown his ass, but that would be too easy……Now I just feel sorry for this dude…….Back in the days this type of shit wouldn’t even fly, now it’s straight up Hip Hop anarchy….

No rules, no codes, no B-Boy honor or respect……..Is anyone else going to step to the plate and call this jive shit out ?….

I seriously doubt it…..Some dudes might even call this album cover some real soldier gorilla/guerilla shit, and get hype by it……

SUCKERS..

" Six 2 Six Mixtape Flavors "

Six 2 Six Records is the home of Constant Deviants, Supreme, Rome, Bosch, M.I., etc……..They recently put out a mixtape that showcases the talent that they have on their roster….

I listened to this last night, and it held my attention throughout (Which is a task within itself)…….So give it a listen for yourself…And while your at it, go out and cop that new Constant Deviants album trooper…..

" Prince Poetry 2010 Shots "

Yesterday at work one of my cornball co-workers popped in Organized Confusion’s first album…..I was surprised because at work I usually hear Usher, Black Eyed Peas, and all that other bullshit….

He asked me if I ever heard this album before?..

HAHAHAHA…..What, are you fucking crazy ?……So I took a little time out of my busy day to school his ass on some Organized Confusion information……I told him how they were once signed to Hollywood Basic which was handled by Disney Music Group, etc…

After that, all he could talk about was how fresh Pharoahe Monch was, so I decided to hit him off with the new Prince Poetry collabo record he did with D-Strong……………

Here are a couple highlights from the “Get Off The Playground E.P.”

Enjoy….

“Superiority Complex” – Featuring Aarophat….

“Bring It Back Remix”

" Crate Digging Fiesta "

Arcee & Kae Wonder (The Real Frequency) recently hooked up with Jake One for a segment that they call “Cratery”……They unveil a barrage of all vinyl treats that will keep you on the edge of your seat….

So grab an ice-cold beverage, kick your feet up and prepare for a batch of wax goodness……

No tracklist-

" Freestyle Professors Wreck "

I posted this up about a year and a half ago, but if you missed it the first time, here is your second chance to do the right thing….The Heavy Listening Crew (Trinidad & Freddie Massif) bless us with an hour long podcast of nothing but Freestyle Professors heat….

This is what they had to say regarding this session….

“Today, we pay homage to maybe one of our favorite group EVER.
The FREESTYLE PROFESSORS originate from Forest Projects in the South Bronx alongside rap legends Lord Finesse, Showbiz, Diamond D and Fat Joe.

The crew was formed with one of the best rapper/producer in the game: Branesparker alongside ‘Don Q’ from the same projects and a legendary DJ that used to be down with “Afrika Bambataa” named ‘Foxx.
They dropped their first EP in 1994 which became in 10 years one of the most revered underground records of ALL TIME.
A CLASSIC with the Showbiz produced track, “Down With The Freestyle Professors.”

As an appetizer,Trinidad & Freddie Massif give you a taste of the work (past and present) of some of their heroes.
It includes classic, unreleased and exclusive material hosted by the original members : BRANESPARKER & GW. FOXXX.
Over 1 hour of REAL RAP by the BRONX GRYMIEST…Branesparker, Giff (formerly known as Geo), G.W. Foxx and J-Superia.

" For Those That Like To Groove, Part 10 "

Who needs coffee when HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD is on the set?….This Monday morning scorcher will put a little pep in your step cousin…….

Phillip Lehman & Gabe Roth started the funk label Desco Records in the late 90’s……After the label folded, Roth started “Daptone Records” and the rest is history……Lehmen created “Soul Fire” which hasn’t received the same accolades as Daptone, but truth be told, “Soul Fire” keeps it extra filthy and deserve more praise for their releases……

Here is a compilation of Soul Fire artist that will put you under a heavy spell……..

" Golden State Warriors, Part 5 "

The Homeless Derelix (Architect & Grand The Visitor) have been putting out great music ever since 1995…..Instead of attempting to duplicate the sound of others, the H.D.’s have carved out an original lane for themselves with their no-frills style of Hip Hop…

If your looking for concrete proof- CHECK IN….

“Explanations”

“Critical Meltdown”

" Joint Of The Day "

If your looking for some extra firepower to make your Saturday Night extra live, check out this new burner, “Planet Rock” by The Planets………Roc Marciano is behind the boards on this one folks and he definitely does his thing…

P.S. Yes this is the same Scorsayzee that wrecked plenty P. Brothers beats in the past……..U.K. STAND UP !!!!

" New Buckwild Shit "

It’s good to hear more new music from Buckwild in 2010……The Celph Titled collabo album was enough to hold me down, but now he comes to the table with remixes to keep the flames burning….

Peep this….

“There Will Be Blood” featuring O.C., Grand Puba, A.G., Celph Titled, Sadat X, and motherfucking Diamond D…….What more do you guys want ?

Battlefield Funk Radio… 11/11/10

Here is last Thursday’s show just in case you missed it…….Big shout out to Deuce for answering the Hip Hop trivia question…And another big shout to M.F. Grimm and everyone else that checked out the show…….

Be on the lookout for another session sooner than later, tell a friend…YOU HEARD…

Peace-
D

" The Triumphant Return Of Battlefield Funk Radio "

Just when you thought it was safe, Battlefield Funk returns tonight for another dose of Hip Hop shock treatment…Yeah, I know it’s been a minute, but brothers have been extremely busy…..

We also have a special guest tonight that is a monster on the decks-so you don’t want to get caught snoozing…

You know how we do: doubles, blends, shenanigans, Hip Hop trivia, newness, under the radar rockets, and all that other fly shit…

See you at 9 O’clock sharp, Vietnam, California time….

" Joint Of The Day "

Ahhhhhh yeah…….

If you haven’t noticed by now, Hip Hop Battlefield gravitates towards the grimy side of things…..When I hear these sensitive cornballs with their soft rhymes and fluffy beats, I just have to shake my head in disbelief……..

So for this episode of “Joint Of The Day”, your going to get hit with a heavy handed uppercut straight to the face…..This cut by Lo Down (Fright Night) sounds like some haunted house, apocalyptic type shit…..If you missed this in 1994 don’t feel bad, I wasn’t up on this cut until last year myself…..

I’m not well versed on the history of “Lo Down”, all I know is that they get very busy over a menacing beat by Last Straw Productions……If you have more info on this mysterious crew- drop some science in the comment section…
