” Every Posse Get Flat 2.0. “

Picture 4

*Originally posted September 15th 2011, I have to re-up this mix because MEDIAFIRE killed some of my links #SUCKAZ…..

Yeah man….Yeah man, I told you motherfuckers that I was going to drop “Every Posse Get Flat 2.0.” sooner than later…..

I also told you that I have plans for the suckers this year….HAHAHA….

The kid feels real good right about now….WHY ?

Because I am about to drop a certified M.X. missile right on your forehead…..I’m talking 40 minutes of nonstop turntable abuse, rudeboy pressure, BATTLEFIELD production, and all that other wild shit that will make the average herb tremble in his skinny jeans (DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME)…..

If your expecting to hear a compilation of “Lovers Rock” tunes, your barking up the wrong tree……If your expecting to hear a mix full of “pay to play” dubplates, your barking up the wrong tree……If your expecting to hear a project full of shake your “poom poom” selections, once again your barking up the wrong motherfuckin tree….

If you look at the cover art carefully (By Viben Onerz) you already know what’s going down…..STRAIGHT WRECK…Big up to all the cats that check HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD on the daily (I SEE YOU), and big up to all my family in the CAYMAN ISLANDS…….BLAM,BLAM.

” Classic Flick Steez “

Picture 3

The motherfucking grandmaster MF GRIMM recently sent me this photo of him, KING SUN, and LORD FINESSE profiling in the place to be circa 1989…Not quite sure who those other cats are in the background, but they are lucky to have been at the right place, at the right time…

” Booze Brothers On Deck “

Picture 6

Philly Lo-Life reppers the “BOOZE BROTHERS” are no joke when it comes to that good old fashioned boulevard bully rap…..Clever One & Him Lo have consistently impressed me with their hardcore tales of boosting, criminology, liquor guzzling, and taking out the cornballs….

I’m really looking forward to a full length from this duo, but until that moment comes, take a listen to their newest joint, “Self Portraits”…

” Sunday Check In ”

Picture 3

*Above pic taken by me 2007 Vietnam, California )…..

If you are up on “Dooley- O’s” Beat Segment mixtape series, than you already know “D” get’s down for his crown on the 45 tip..No games are being played, just pure soul power from beginning to end…

I had the chance to check out Mr. Dooley High a couple years back and he totally crashed the party with an abundance of floor rocker gems…..He is a quadruple threat when it comes to this Hip Hop shit : makes his own beats, rocks the handstyles, rhymes, and gets busy on the wheels….

” Hardcore Hip Hop Will Never Die “

Picture 1

After I found out the terrible news about TIM DOG a couple days ago, I started having intense flashbacks….I started time traveling back to 1991 when I first heard PENICILLIN ON WAX (over 20 years ago, crazy)..

Those beats by Moe Love, TR Love, and Ced G changed the way that I viewed Hip Hop production…This album is flooded with thick walls of sound, intense sequencing, unpredictable drum programming, superb EQ’ing, and an original approach to breaking down samples….

In my mind, the only other production CREW that could hang with this at the time was the BOMB SQUAD (prove me wrong if you believe otherwise)…

Now lets get to the lyrical aspect of things –

PENICILLIN ON WAX is one of the few records that I can recite every lyric, word for word, from front to back…. EVERYTHING…..I even have the skits memorized..Yeah, he wasn’t the most technical MC, but you don’t have to be in order for me to dig your music……..I just want motherfuckers to convince me that they BELIEVE in what they say, and Tim Dog accomplished that….

HAHAHAHA……

Here are 10 Tim Dog bars from off the top of my head that made me laugh hysterically, or made me want to toss someone off of a cliff…..

PEEP….

1..” Get real learn your trade / rap is an art, not a source to get paid “….

LOW DOWN NIGGA..

2..” Peace to Ice Cube, peace to Ice-T / DJ Quick, he can suck my dick – Cause I’m going to wax that ass / and send you back to hardcore class “….

FUCK COMPTON..

3..” A lot of niggas talk shit, said that I jerked them / that’s funny I didn’t know that you was working – You don’t rap, your not a fucking DJ / not a bodyguard, why the fuck should you get paid “….

GRAB THE GAT…

4..” First you made a jam that’s hot, than you made another and that shit went pop / then you made another and that shit had flopped, you deserve exactly what your ass got, motherfucker – Trying to run after the whites / you used to wear timbs, now your ass is in tights “…

INDUSTRY IS WACK..

5..” Take it from me, I don’t lie / Hardcore rap will never die “..

HARDCORE..

6..” Everybody’s talking that red, black, and green / that’s cool, but give me the green “….

YOU AIN’T SHIT…

7..” Get the fuck outta here bitch, your just bugging / my black nuts you be hugging ”

GET OFF THE DICK…

8..” Why do you think every hardcore rapper doesn’t get paid / but gets remade ”

I AIN’T HAVING IT..

9..” I’m for real suckers don’t know the real deal / I get fly like Remington Steele ”

I’LL WAX ANYBODY..

10..” Put on your shit, lets break out / this ain’t a motherfucking stake out – we was out, dropped the bitch at the train / threw her a token and said forget my name – she got upset and called me a bum nigga / I said no baby, I’m a Bronx nigga, I’m a Bronx nigga, I’m a Bronx, nigga, I’m a Bronx nigga “….

” Dr. Butcher Speaks “

Picture 3

I’m quite sure I don’t have to give the HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD readers a full breakdown on Dr.Butcher’s resume, but here are a couple facts about him that you might not be aware of….

1..He was the producer on the incredible cut, “Emotions” with MF Grimm & B1…

2..One of the original founders of the X-Ecutioners / X-Men…

3..Used to be in a crew with LL Cool J as an M.C.

Rob Swift recently caught up with him for a in-depth interview that will hold any true Hip Hop student’s full attention…Do yourself a favor and tune in, you might just learn something trooper..

” Valentines Day In Vietnam, California “

Picture 1

* Peep the USA Today write up here……

Aside from the full length “GOOD MORNING VIETNAM” project, we are now taking pre-orders for the ” Be Noble / Time ” 7inch……

“Time” is a unreleased track that GRIMM & I cooked up while we were recording “GMV”, but we decided to put it in the stash box until the right moment……Valentines Day is a perfect time to unveil this ode to all the lovely B-Girls around the globe…

Don’t get it twisted : this isn’t some second rate, cupcaking anthem, this is descriptive poetics over explosive chop work homeboy….

HAHA…

Take a listen if you know what’s best for you (TIME)….

Place your pre-orders at VENDETTA VINYL before these disappear (only 250 copies)…

” For Those That Like To Groove, 42 “

Picture 4

Isn’t it interesting that Quenton Tarantino released “Django” right after RZA dropped, “The Man With The Iron Fist” ?

It seems as if he was trying to throw shade over RZA’s directing debut on the low in my opinion….

HAHAHA….

I was real anxious to see what RZA could do with film , but as soon as he appeared in the movie I couldn’t help but laugh for ten minutes straight……If he would have stayed BEHIND the camera instead of in front of it, the film could of been halfway believable (don’t get it twisted, RZA could very well be ill with martial arts in real life, but in the historical context of the movie it made absolutely no sense)…

Anyway, this isn’t a movie review web site so let me stick to the script, no pun intended….

“FREE DOWNLOAD — DJ 7L mix of snippets from the full RZA/STAX compilation album. Hosted by Frank the Butcher.

The RZA’s tracks drip sweat. They’re dusty and menacing. They get right up in your grill and and dare you to say something. His loops are often truncated in the oddest places, like two puzzle pieces that don’t quite fit together but make the illest design.

In the early ’90s, The RZA, then know as Prince Rakeem, had begun making music for his then new Staten Island (aka Shaolin) based supergroup, Wu-Tang Clan. When Enter The 36 Chambers was finally released in late ’93, the effect was seismic. The RZA’s “awkward” combination of rugged drums and off-center loops formed the foundation of a unique sound that would inspire a whole new generation of samplists, as well as set off searches for the components of those loops.

As the nature of this Shaolin style became more defined, it became clear that the sounds of the South, and in Memphis especially, seemed to hold a particular draw for The RZA and other disciples of his style. It was in Memphis that the recording studios of STAX Records were based. The records that STAX issued had a certain tone and swing that perfectly complimented The RZA’s gritty, down-to-earth style.

Shaolin Soul Selection: Volume 1 presents 24 original recordings – nearly 2 1/2 hours of essential soul music available on 2 CDs, 3 Vinyl LPs or Digital Download- from the vaults of STAX Records and its subsidiary labels that inspired The RZA and the classic sound of The Wu-Tang Clan”…

” X-Ecutioner Steez “

Picture 3

For some reason I stopped checking for the DMC battles AFTER the P-Trix era…It seemed that after his reign no one was pushing the envelope as much, I even started to hear all types of “dub-stepish” frequencies so I fell back…

Strange for a person who had followed the battles heavy from the mid-80’s – mid 2000’s….Even though I stopped checking for it , I never COMPLETELY lost faith in the power of two turntables, skills, and creativity within the DMC format….

FFWD to 2012 – DJ Precision manhandles the decks for his championship belt in the DMC’s (this is the set he rocked)…..

*Take note on how ill he is with BOTH hands homeboy….

HAHAHA……

GRIMM & I have all types of surprises up our sleeves for 2013 so stay tuned for the wreck…..Matter of fact, on Valentines Day we have some Hip Hop treats we will be unveiling, so keep your motherfucking eyes peeled JACK !!!!!

” Stab Salute “

Picture 7

Even though NIKE AIR STABS ( short for stability ) originally dropped in 1988, I didn’t develop a fondness for them until much later…

In 2005 Nike relaunched the STAB with amazing colorways that started to catch my attention..Like these STAB RUNNING & GUNNING joints that flex a black elephant print, a nasty infrared accent color, with a splattered heel guard..

Picture 2

When it comes kicks I’m more into earth tones, so I don’t really rock all white shoes too tough, but these deserve some BURN…

Picture 4

Some cats I know can’t stand STABS, but in my opinion it’s all about how you flip them just like anything else in Hip Hop…..So next time a bozo tries to clown your STABS, tell them DRASAR from HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD said to ease back….

Picture 5

” The Return Of Blog Shots “

Picture 3

If you are a die hard reader of HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD you will remember what the blog shots section is all about…..It’s where I point you in the direction of another blog that is holding the goods…

I’m not selfish over here HAHA…

The Soul Spectrum radio show KZSU (Stanford) held it down for a number of years…Unfortunately they haven’t updated since 2011, so it’s safe to say that the show is on hiatus..Regardless they have a bunch of archived shows that should hold you down if your on the hunt for some groove morale…

PEEP…

” Ayatollah : Nothing But The Funk “

Picture 2

Ayatollah’s new project AVANT GARDE will be dropping March 5th on Elementality Records…..

Here is a taste of what he has been cooking up in the laboratory…
