" Blog Shots 44 "

Welcome to the Blog Shots segment……This is where I point you in the direction of another blog that I believe is holding the goods (I’m not selfish HAHA)….

D.J. Revolution has been holding it down behind the one’s and two’s for a minute now…….You have heard all the mixes, you have seen the U Stream shows, and now you can check out his blog to see how he gets down for his…..

Tell him that grimy kid from Hip Hop Battlefield sent you JACK !!!!!

TUNE IN…..

" New Shit On Deck "

J-Live starts off 2011 with a bang on this Diamond D produced joint, “No Time To Waste”…….Damn, why don’t these two just sit down and rock an entire album…….Sounds like a good idea to me…

Two thumbs up……

" Polo Mania "

Your boy Young Dro catches a heavy scolding from Lo Life general, Fi-Lo on this hilarious video “Spit On A Fake Lo-Life” featuring Thirstin Howl 3rd……It seems as if everyone and their mother are trying to flash Lo without paying proper homage to the original boostin clique….

Don’t front……You know damn well where all that Lo shit came from…….

Peep….

" Hip Hop Battlefield Goes To Hawaii "

Yes indeed my friend, Hip Hop Battlefield will be broadcasting live from the captivating island of Kauai, Hawaii for the rest of this week…I have been here for a couple days, and it’s hard not to get caught up in the natural beauty of this lovely piece of paradise..

If there is any Hip Hop on this island I will find it……If there are any vinyl shops on this island I will find them…..HAHA….

You might ask yourself, “Why and the hell is he blogging on his vacation?”……..It’s simple, because I feel like it trooper……..Things are going to be a little slower this week, but I will still find time to post up a couple things here and there……(I will post up pics from my Hawaiian adventure when I get back to the mainland)

Here is a little info on Hawaii for all of those interested:

1. The Hawaiian alphabet only consists of 12 letters, A,E,I,O,U,H,K,L,M,N,P,W.

2. The Polynesians transmitted their knowledge and culture through speaking, dance and chants; they had no written language until the 1800’s…..

3. Hawaii is the 50th state in the U.S. even though it feels like a completely different country……

4. The Hawaiian ridge is the tallest mountain range on earth…..

I’m far from an expert on Hawaiian culture, but I am taking the time to find out about the Hawaiian people, and their rich history while I absorb the powers of their island on my short stay……I also want to send a big shout out to Monica, Azar (Your crazy funny man), and Big Josh for checking me in properly……

Anyway, here is a mixtape that I did a couple months back (Wax Weapons 30)….

If you missed it the first time, now you get a second chance to get your mind right…..2011 is going to be a wild ride on the Hip Hop Battlefield so stay tuned for more action….BLAM..

" Professor Griff Speaks "

Professor Griff has been hitting the lecture circuit pretty hard in recent years…..Even though I do not agree with all of his views, the brother is a very deep thinker and he has the uncanny ability to force you to think outside of the box (Which is definitely needed these days)….

He sat down with Tariq Nasheed to discuss his views on racism, P.E., the economy, secret societies, etc……..

While your at it, you should check out some of Tariq’s other podcast as well………I’m not really digging all the mack talk, but when he chops it up about current events he has my undivided attention……

PEEP…..

" Breaks For Days Radio "

All the way from London comes the newest broadcast of “Breaks For Days Radio” by my crate digging comrade, Kid Dyno……If you are not familiar with this show- I highly recommend that you give it a thorough listen…..

Under the radar breaks, top notch selections, and a dose of slept on Hip Hop gems…….LONDON STAND THE FUCK UP…..

This is what Dyno had to say regarding this session…

“You should all know the formula by now – a selection of downlow, dirty breaks followed by a slice of nice beats, this time mostly post-2000 hip hop bangers. And please remember we supply only vinyl treats, no sneaky mp3 joints like those wack wannabee DJs LMAO. We aim to please so feel free to drop a comment if you like what you are hearing (it’s always nice to know where we get it right). Consider it a soundtrack to your new year. Enjoy – Kid Dyno”

" Mad Face Invasion "

Out of all the albums that Onyx put out, “All We Got Iz Us” is my personal favorite…….Fredro Star stepped up to the production plate and supplied the crew with some certified heaters……

“Walk In New York”, “Live Nigga’s”, “Last Day’s”, “Evil Streets”, and “Most Def” were all produced by Fredro………After the release of this album Onyx switched up their taste in beats and things started to move in the wrong direction…..

If these guys returned to the original recipe I still believe they could make some threatening music in 2011……It’s all about production direction at this point, because Sticky, Fredro, and Son Seez are always an interesting listen….

D.J. Books put out a Onyx mixtape last year (Mixtory & Violence)………Put on your best mad face and prepare for some rowdy frequencies……

" Hip Hop Holiday "

To be honest with you, I’m not the holiday dude…..Most motherfuckers couldn’t even tell you what the significance of Christmas, Thanksgiving, and all that other shit is really about…..Not to sound like an angry brother (Even though I am HAHA) but most of these holidays are all about spending that paper……

So the crew and I decided to spend New Years on the “YARD ACTION TIP”……48 hours of heavy Hip Hop Holiday shit……

I want to thank Planet (Funk What Ya Heard), Refa, Mane, Sha Rockerz, Kufu , Fooders, Kendrick, Jess, Liz, Jahmel Rockwell, Ground Level, State, Mad Miguel, Lungz, Daze Rock, and all North Star Zulus past and present…..

Big up for helping me start 2011 on the right foot……..

Peep these flicks of the squad going hard in the paint (Literally)……….And a crazy shout out to the “Back Em Down Boys” for always keeping it extra gully on the set…..BLAM, BLAM……

" 2011 Dub Explosion "

In my opinion, “Dub” is the original trance music……Some people can only deal with it in small doses, but I could listen to this type of shit all day without a problem and get my heavy meditations in order at the same time (YA HEARD)…

Dub champions like Lee Perry, Scientist, Jah Shaka, Mad Professor, King Tubby, and plenty others made a huge impact on me growing up….So much of an impact that even today I am obsessed with a twisted sense of sound manipulation that can be traced directly to what they were doing in the 70’s….

More on that in a later post perhaps- but in the meantime check out this mix by Unify (Tribe Of Kings)…Over an hour of dub scorchers homeboy……BOOOYAAAAKAAAAA SHOT !!!
